How to make your underwater GoPro film rig (links in description!!)
In this video I explain how to set up your beginner Underwater Video Rig for GoPro’s and Action Cameras. I review my own setup piece by piece and explain some dos and don’ts I learned along the way. This video is geared towards the beginner, so there’s not too much technical detail. Just some good tips and advice gained from my first few years of experience in filming my underwater adventures. My hope is that this video helps some people get ahead of the initial learning curve.

Interesting video, but one point to note your background music is a little loud and distracting from what you are saying! Good video though, never thought of having more positive buoyancy on camera rigs!

Well there’s still a whole other side of it that I didn’t capture. That being Guy doing his editing and combining the photos into one. But absolutely would love to help Guy anytime 😁 the fact he allowed me to film for this video was icing on the cake.
@@adventuresmith5742 I would love a video of him editing. I can combine a few but doing 30 is a wow. As Amy told me it's more art than a method. I am pretty fast on editing in Lightroom but that many layers is very difficult. I can edit video but you're really good with your editing.
@tomeauburn thank you. 🙏 yea, I’m still learning about audio equipment audio editing and color grading in the software I’m using, but I just keep practicing and learning. If Guy would be interested in me making a part two covering how he goes about editing his photos, I’d be happy to make it happen. lol I didn’t know if it was a “trade secret” 🤫 😅

My cave instructor still did the go in, lights out, share out ALL the way. Definitely appreciate my lights, hand out front, and HELMET!!
Oh yea! Lights out air share was a large part of both my intro/basic as well as full cave certification. I think it’s really important to drill because it really is one of the “worst case scenarios “ that can happen.
100% agree! If an instructor isn’t doing this, the trainee needs to find a better instructor.
Great job ! You tied history with current exploration and stressed how KUR is working with the state to preserve Florida' s wonderful resources. ( some other states too )
I’d love to do more documentary work with KUR in the future. It’s definitely worth the effort! Those guys and gals are doing some amazing things.

With your bump helmet did you have to pull out any foam padding
I did, but it was very easy. The padding has a hook and loop backing and the helmet came with a variety of thicknesses and shapes so I could fit it with my neoprene hood and mask.
If I had a suggestion for the padding, I would invest in the mesh style. It dries out better

The tow truck? I’m not sure. The DPV has a tow speed of around 150 feet per minute

I love that you showed this because it reminds me so much of when I was setting up my lighting/camera stuff. I like that you kept the shots that were out of focus and where white balance was off too. What you're saying is more important than the display quality but sometimes it can be easy not to post because it wasn't "perfect". Looking forward to seeing more of your content. Carnival Cruises are fabulous! Wish I could get more people (who are afraid of the sea) to at least try it once! I do have an advantage because I spent six years at sea while in the navy! LOL! It's home for me! Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to my next Carnival Cruise or perhaps I will try some other ship!
