Herrlich! Als Fan von Martha Argerich höre ich seit den Sechzigerjahren gebannt zu und freue mich riesig auf ein Wiedersehen demnächst in Hamburg. Inzwischen haben wir dieselbe Haarfarbe, aber sonst ist alles wie früher ❤️

I grew up with the Rubinstein, Heifetz, Piatigorsky recording (wit hthe Ravel on the flip side) and have played the piece many times (I am an amateur pianist). Argerich's pianism is simply astonishing, which is not news to those of us who have loved her playing for decades. The Scherzo is simply miraculous, the perfect tempo and sound for this music. If you play the piano, try it for yourself and you will understand what this genius did here.

Perché l'ultima nota del pianoforte che conclude il secondo movimento invece d'essere sfumata in un dolcissimo " piano " viene accentuata , con mia non piacevole sorpresa , dalla pianista ? Ora io non ho qui con me lo spartito e quindi non so più quale sfumatura dinamica il compositore abbia segnato per concludere, col pianoforte, il secondo movimento e magari io mi sbaglio. Vorrei tanto sapere, quindi, cosa ha segnato Mendelssohn , come segno di dinamica, sulla frase conclusiva assegnata al pianoforte.

The playing is unfortunately as cold as Siberia.

Look at this Japanese violinist and "look at me" cellist trying to outdo each other playing over Argerich at times. The fucking music goes out the window when you do that. Nothing but amateurs.

8:36 This is just an overdone,heat of passion performance with big names. Too bad there wasn't much Mendelssohn.

After Rubinstein, Heifetz and Piatigorsky, it seems rather lacking pace and vitality. I feel that the cellist drags at the others, especially with his openings, whereas the pianist seems to want to inject more pace, and does a great job. The violinist needs more variation with his voicing.

A delightful and soulful performance of this beautiful trio. Thank you for posting.
