Just want to share a little story here: Back in 2006, a girl who was like a sister to me, was killed in a drive-by shooting-like incident, in a small town called Ashland, Kentucky. (It’s in the NE corner of the state, in the tri-state area with Ohio & West Virginia). Well..:this is the song (and album) we’d always listen to to there, before she passed. It was just kind of one of our “things”. Ya know? To this day, I still listen to this when I think of her. When it gets to “I just wanna sing my song, before this whole world’s GOOOOOONE!”, I just fucking LOSE it bawling. It’s been nearly 20 years, since we lost that poor, Whitni. She had just turned 19-years old, man. She was the sweetest, most kindhearted chick you’d ever meet in your life! She was just a great person, heart & soul. It’s always the good ones, that leave us way too early, man. She was just one of MANY I’ve lost, over the years! Where I am from was the original “Pillbilly Country”. My generation (I turn 43, in 2 months (Jan 2025)) has just been RAVAGED by addiction issues & mental illness. I am not immune as I am both diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder & Childhood PTSD, & am a Recovering Addict myself. But, Whitni..? She was none of those things. She really wasn’t. She cared deeply, for me. And I appreciated her everyday. Miss you, Whitni! Thanks for watching over me & the others these last 18 years.
I was given this promo in a record store when I was 13 which would have been 2004 and I became obsessed with this song. to this day 20 years later every now and then I think of it, and come to RUclips and watch the video. Now that's a good song when you still think of it 20 years later. I guess the band was singed to epic records in 2003 or 4, put out this record, went on tour, and epic cancelled their contract while on tour. Not sure why, but that would be why nothing ever really came of them. They never really had the chance..They did half a tour after their debut record.
Back in the day, my local rock radio station never played this song, but I did hear it on the national syndicated show HardDrive with Lou Brutus when that same radio station played it Saturday evenings.
I saw these guys open for Breaking Benjamin at Studio 7 in Seattle years ago.. can't remember. It was a fun show. I often wonder if this band ever made anything after this song... doesn't seem like it.. sad
OCTOBER 2024. TALK ABOUT POOR PROMOTION. THEY DIDNT EVEN NEED SOLD TO THE PEOPLE...THEY JUST NEEDED EXXPOSURE AND AIR TIME OVER THE RADIO WAVES. THIS IS HUGE. I JUST DONT GET IT. THIS IS CLASSIC. THE LYRICS, THE SOUND, THE VOICE. THIS IS WHAT I CALL BAD BAD AGENTS, MANAGEMENT AND SLACKING.
I just found this song. It saved my life. Literally. I found some peace today. This song rewrote how I deal with this life. I wouldn't have changed a note, a tempo, a lyric I had written it myself. So much respect. Thank you for putting your heart out on your sleeve for the masses. Peace be with you.
@@caseypalmateer4515I am with both of you right now, in some ways. I hope things are looking up & you’ve at least come close to finding that Hope, homie! I’m working on mine, too.
This guy should be the singer for a Nirvana tour, with Dave, Krist, and Pat smear on 🎸! Everybody would go to that! 💰 Can't you hear the similarities??
This band never got it's recognition. Rarely ever heard it on the radio and most people would have no clue about. U never here it on mainstream radio these days. Idk about satellite. Even today, many people still have not heard this song. They're comparable to Candlebox in my opinion in terms of never hearing their music on the radio. Kinda weird.
This song made me tear up. I listened to it years back as I was dealing with depression. I'm still struggling a bit, but it's because God that I have hope and faith and a will to keep going. You can feel the raw emotion from this song. I think everyone who's trying to get by day by day feels what the song is singing. We all want to be let out of the troubling times we're living in now. Inflation our governments hating us and wanting total communist regime control over us. Fear not God always shows up for us he did for our ancestors. God will set us free. God bless you all. Don't stop fighting and living.
@SC68170 neither will I fold. God is bigger and stronger than their evil plans. Good times are coming. God always shows up for us. He's such an amazing God that I believe he even shows up for those who don't believe. God bless you, kind soul. Don't back down.

This song was actually played at my Army basic training graduation. I'll never forget it.

Fighting all the time. They'd want nothing more than to take us common sense thinkers out. I will not fold. 🙏

The music industry and government is why this band and many other great bands went nowhere
The whole album is great.
