Your grandfather was an interesting man! Thanks for sharing his story. (it would have been a perfect presentation if the audio was filtered to remove the metallic noises... Any chance?)
Thank you sir
Great history of a vanished era. Ah, passenger train travel---those were the days!
I am in central NC. An archaeologist came to look at some artifacts and one of the points was identified as coming from the Morrow Mountain quarry. It is dark color with squiggly lines all in it.
Great presentation Lewis!!! Joey Vento
I worked there in 1974.
I went to the Morrow Mountain History Center yesterday, It was an awesome learning experience!
Love the history but do not believe the years
Really appreciate you sharing this piece of history
Bravo! Very informative I loved this documentary
I just purchased a 3 drawer version at an estate sale and can't find anything on this. Do you have any info on the 3 drawer ?
It’s mirror is US 6 running diagonally from Boston to LA, now ending in Bishop, CA.
If you wonder about US 52 , even number running north, I-74 in NC will blow your mind.
Very informative and entertaining!
Do you have other games say from 1982 Albemarle?
Nice to know history about where one is from.
Tose expanded metal racks are a smart replacement.
I remember my mom using this to can green beans that we helped break. Just watched your video with her this evening after seeing hers up in the attic. We are going to get it out and can some green beans again this year after nearly 40 years have gone by. Thanks for the video!
I am ashamed of what my ancestors did to the natives of this great land. They should have been embraced instead of wiped out and segregated into reservations. My heart bleeds for the new generations that are forced to learn an indoctrinated version of history. In reality we new inhabitants have such a small history compared to this once great people. 10,000 years of history litter this sacred ground, compared to ours at 300. I consider myself a patriot and American to the core as so many young men have died to keep our new land free. If we were invaded by an outside force.. would we not be absolute savages and show no mercy? Should I be ashamed to say if I had been a pioneer coming across the plains that I would have sided with the natives. We've lost our touch with nature and with ourselves in this technology laden world. i encourage anyone who takes the time to read this to research the history of the people whom have been removed and to honor their memory.
Wish I could get one!
Wonderful and educational documentary!
Thanks for making this well done and informative video!
Greatly Appreciated .
What a great, informative and entertaining interview. Great job by both Les and Darrell, two of Norwood and Stanly County’s finest citizens! David Grigg
I sure wish you would do one on Palmerville Baptist. The church has opened back up and dates back to 1864. It’s off Palmerville road where there used to be all the saloons back in the day. It’s so beautiful inside. Full of history
Good memories in tht place.
Thank you Les for your service. I feel honored hearing your life experiences.
Awesome! Thank you for your service.
It was such a pleasure viewing the video recording of Ralph McSwain, by David Grigg. I would like to hear an interview of David! Charles Coble, formerly of Oakboro (My mother Margaret Coble loved David's mother!)
Thanks so much for this interesting and informative program by Walter Davis, one of Stanly County’s and North Carolina’s very special people.
Well done, wonderful research and a piece of history we should never forget.
Very interesting! I was not aware of this part of America's history.
Oh such rich history!!!!
Hello Chris love your presentation
Awesome! I have a hair wreathe that was “Adelia Welch” s my great grandmother’s. Nice presentation. It probably dates late 1800’s.
The house looks amazing.
Great documentary. Thanks
Joy Preslar here, under my husband's account. My Aunt Evelyn was David Griggs's secretary for years, and I am so happy to see him! I went to school with Sheriff McSwain's son, and we were in a play together. It makes my heart warm to see these two fine gentleman chatting and looking so well!
Love the cat photo-bombing on the table!
My grandfather was "Bad Eye" Jim Hartsell, constable of Locust for most of my young life. I'm sure he and Sheriff McSwain crossed paths!
I appreciate this interview of this distant cousin. My Grandmother was his aunt Sally.
Thank you.
Thank you both for taking your part in the interview. And thank you both for your service to our country, and your continued service to our community. God bless!!
Mr. Burns is a relative of mine and a wonderful writer and scholar. What an excellent video!
How wonderful it has been to hear, see, and know of two Americans who are PATRIOTS of the past who fought, or served, and was so wonderful to live through such a terrible war as the Viet Nam war---of which this writer lost two wonderfully smart and educated officer-cousins in that horrible war!! Thank you Kay Snuggs and Dr. Eric Johnson for this interviews and the years you spent in defense of America in a war that should have NEVER HAPPENED, yet you served so nobly and so bravely. God bless you both, and God continue to Bless the united states of America!
Whoa, please slow down so we can enjoy........ please
This is great, Lewis!
From that side ofc
