Very interesting Alicia, thank you for presenting this helpful video. I never knew that a Sycamore was a type of Maple! Keep loving the trees❣️
Buckeye Trees make a mess in utah.
Poisonus
Thanks again, great video!
The rabbits in my area huddle under spruces when it’s cold out. Thanks to this video, I know they are white and blue spruces. 😊 Thank you! 🌲
This May I started planting some Japanese maples and now have 4 trees of 3 varieties. Now, there are some varieties that can tolerate heat and full sun even in Texas. Due to manipulation by people all over the world there are now thousands of varieties of Japanese maples. Thank you for your detailed presentation with great examples of the different types of maples. It was a great video!
Nice presentation: I live in Missouri, with many red and sugar maples, and tons of silver maples (the most common tree in the state). I'm trying to distinguish between red maples and Freeman maples (a red/silver hybrid). You didn't discuss that one in the video, but it was helpful anyway!
EXCELLENT video! Thank you.
The boxelder maples are called manitoba maples in Canada :)
I think that i have a brewer spruce in my yard . It is 60 - 70 ft tall . I live in Pennsylvania. It is a beautiful tree 🌳 how can i know for sure if it is a brewer spruce??? Thank you
I've always been curious, is there any pattern to when Japanese maples produce 5/7/9-lobed leaves? Similarly, is it by tree (this tree has all five-lobed, that one has all seven-lobed, etc) or by individual leaf?
Japanese maple characteristic that she didn't mention: red leaves in the fall (and spring, and summer).
If you’re interested in learning more about Japanese maples check out Mr Maple You Tube channel.
Thank you. Now I know what I planted 10 years ago... a Silver Maple. Its already at least 15 ft tall. Thank you for your informative video ❤
This video should have more likes. It was informative and did not have extraneous talking. The presenter is also elegant. My regards from Weimar, Germany.
Linden trees over there, which we call basswood in the U. S., right?
Great video but assuming it isn’t the fall- what is the last maple you were in front of???
Thank you very much for your wonderful video! Very well presented and organized. Thank you for including diagrams of the vocabulary on leaves, seeds and comparison between species. Also the reference to Harry Potter wands! Truly interesting. Best wishes in all your endeavors! Thanks again! June 5, 2024
I love listening to you talk

If you like the grain in burl, purchase some Bastogne or Walnut ( almost like curly Walnut)
Claro or Bastogne walnut are the nicest tables we sell. And we're the largest live edge dealer in Indiana. Lots of exotics!
I cannot tell you how amazing it is that you have put in the time and effort to make diagram with great pictures of each tree. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 😊 🌲😁
Thank you!
are we allowed to say Oriental anymore?
I planted an English walnut tree ten years ago. That was on my bucket list
I have a tree identification mystery for you: after moving from AZ to Idaho I enjoy the green pine trees in the city I live. I became obsessed with a beautiful tree that one of my neighbors have on her property that I drive by every day. I researched and became convinced that it is a sub-alpine fir tree. I looked at the local nursery to see if we could buy one but their prices were $200 for one tree and I just couldn’t spend that kind of money. I’m on 10 acres with hundreds of trees. I decided I would try to get the cones /seeds to grow my own. After 3.5 years I finally spoke to the neighbor and got a bunch. The little seeds came out and I have them saved to start the process. I want to do it right so I posted on a Facebook group who grow trees and surprise surprise they tell me my cones are from a spruce and not the sun-alpine fir. I saw one cone come from this tree when the neighbor shook it so I know my cones came from that tree. Could it be a hybrid betweeen species?
New sub here. I appreciate the time you take for your videos.
Well done, a lot of great info
Thank you!
Thank you
thank you! IDK if it's reliable to go by but I learned and noticed around my area the Norway Maple also has these like, tips, at the end that are like a strand or pointy hair. Where-as Sugar Maple is pointy overall at the end maybe but a little more rounded at the very very tip. Sorry if you mentioned this and I missed it. Although it was harder to see in the purple leaf at the end.
Bmnice video. I did not know black walnut were edible
This is great! Thank you for making it (and the maple one too!). I am also trying to find the local indigenous names for trees of North America. I know there would be different names because there are many different languages. Know of any resources for that?
Another interesting Harry Potter fact: J.K. Rowling has said that her own wand would be Walnut and Phoenix feather core, because she loves the look of walnut wood. Also, Black Walnut apparently has different magical properties from other species of Walnut in the book and is listed separately.
That is very interesting! I love that she distinguishes between the different species of walnut tree!
Thank you
well explained, thanks for sharing
I'm trying to learn to identify trees in my state (MD) and I keep getting told there's lots of walnut and pecan trees here, but I'm so bad at finding them xD I know walnuts at least are there for sure cause of the nuts, but I never find them when they're ready to pick so I want to be ready. This was a super useful video thanks!
Came across your video, very interesting, I live in the uk and have 5 English walnut trees, I am going to plant an orchard of trees roughly about 60 trees on our land. Thanks for the video 👍
Best maple video. Can you also review the leaves during Autumn foliage? I love the sugar, silver, Norway Maples but they are too big for front patio and drive way with invasive roots, only great for parks, lakes ,highway, and huge backyard.
Freeman's maple may work. Red and silver hybrid. Or simply red maple.
This is the best maple ID video on youtube. Nice work.
Thank you!
Outstanding, thank you!
Thanks!
This was an absolute awesome video!!! Just what I was looking for very well put together thank you so much for posting this
Like Pokemon but with maples... Yes! If we can condition our children to find pleasure in learning and if we can elevate true heros (scientists, social leaders, authors, teachers, etc.) instead of "superheroes" we will be able to progress greatly as a species and protect this beautiful utopia we call Earth.
Thank you so much
Thank you
But isnt it just the seed that is toxic?
Thank you. Well done.
Ilearned more in this than other videos, the leaf part was important
Very informative and useful.Thanks.
Thank you!
Excelente!
Interesante!! Aprendí mucho.
Great video! You explained this really well and I loved how many visuals you used! I can tell you put a lot of effort into creating this video!
