Hi, my name is Adri and I am a newly Certified Physician Assistant! I graduated in December 2021! I shared bits of my journey through PA school to give those curious an inside look of what PA school can be like. I want to share tips on how I got here to help you so please feel free to ask questions in regards! I am a regular girl trying to figure life out while trying to make the best of it!
What inspired me to do this was to be a voice for those that do not think they have what it takes because I was always made to believe and felt that way until everything changed. We really do have everything it takes, we just need to believe it. We are capable of so much in this lifetime. We just need to believe it, you CAN.

Starting PA School Tips...What they don't tell you
Hi madam
Hi mam kindly send your contact details
Hello I wanted to follow you in Instagram but i couldn't find your account 🥺 I also want to become a PA❣️
Great video!!
Congratulations!!🎉
I have completed my undergrad as a physician assistant at an Indian accredited university. Now I'm looking to do a postgraduate diploma or master's in physician assistant. I need to know what the criteria are for an international student. Is there a master's degree or a postgraduate diploma available at your university? I have enclosed my certificates. Kindly evaluate them and give me a suggestion to do my master's or PGD diploma degree. I would like to do PANCE (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination) . Is that possible? I knew I couldn't sit for pance. However, I would like to do it. What could I do to be an NCCPA candidate? Are there any options? Did one of the IAPA candidates suggest to me that if you do any PGD diploma or master's related to your undergrad, then you can sit for PANCE (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination)? Please help me to do it.
Hi
Hi, what did you score on your GRE?
Hi Elyssa! I dont recall my exact score since I took this exam in 2017 but it was average, nothing crazy to be honest. I used a GRE Prep book from Amazon and a smaller book with the most common 500 vocabulary words also from Amazon! Hope that helps :)
could you please tell us what resources you used to study for the psych EOR thanks!
Hi! Smarty PANCE blue prints for each EOR where my go to! So I used the E.R. blue print on Smarty PANCE and ROSH practice questions, of course power-points and content from my program for the psychiatry module we were given!
@@AdriPA-C thank you!
I know this happened a while ago, but congrats! Thanks for posting this, I needed to be reminded of your closing message there. -PA-S1 ->S2 Transitioning. (Trying to Plan out my clincial year!) What is the one thing you wish you know if you were me right now (regarding starting clinicals) ?
Thank you! This WILL be you ver soon! And if I could say one thing I wish I knew is to not doubt myself to much and keep going forward not looking back, to continue being myself and believe everything will be ok and lastly to ask all the questions I can to keep learning!
Great Video! Subscribed! So true on making a schedule I agree just make sure switch around! What are you specializing now days?
Yes that is always the best way to stay caught up with so much going on! I’m planning on making a video soon about what been going on lately!
My daughter wants to do PA course we are in India can you please help us
I would try to look into programs near you and start from there so you can see what kind of requirements needed to apply! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you so much for creating your channel. I graduated in may 2018 and I am applying this cycle. I felt like I had been out of school too long and lost some of my confidence. I believe in myself now and I will not give up. Thank you for all your advice and kind words to us.
I’m so glad these videos are serving their purpose! My ultimate goal is this right here! I am so happy for you and your new adventure! You CAN DO it, it’s hard but it’s not UN-DOABLE!!! Give it all you got and show up, you already won ♥️
Hi Adri, PA-C! 🥳💃🏻👏🏾💫😁 Congratulations on that huge milestone! I just found your channel maybe a week ago and I wanted to pause and just shout you out. Sis your channel is sooooo good and so powerful and important. It’s interesting observing you come into your own. Even in this video alone (I think - I’m listening to my playlist while I’m washing dishes so it could be back-to-back videos but anyways) you can hear how your voice is soooo soft (and lowkey hard to hear sometimes - I think increasing volume w a lapel mic maybe might boost your channel growth) but towards the end when you are really experiencing joy talking about your cadaver lab, your volume and confidence just blossoms!!! I love to see it! It really comes out how much you really love medicine and I KNOW you’re gonna be an AMAZING provider!👩🏻⚕️💓🤗 Last thing I wanna say which is super awkward but I hope is helpful and the compliment I mean it to be … I grew up in Whittier and El Monte (“Al Monté🥰) and used to hang in La Puente with my bestie (who is a PA too btw 😁 ) and your accent just makes me homesick!🥹 I’m so hyped for the representation!!!! Increased diversity of all types is WAAAAAY overdue and I pray there will be more girls with your accent and background in these medical trenches and perhaps you’ll consider teaching high school and jc levels where you can REALLY impact the trajectory of young ppls lives. I used to teach at Mt. SAC and an ROP in the I.E. and I learned how much I loved this impact. Last thing: I remember (‘member) that in the Pomona Valley ER there used to be this 💯 tried and true cholera ER doc and omg I used to have THE biggest girl boss crush on her lol. She was amazing and I wish I’d had the courage to connect with her bc i know she would have made an amazing mentor and teacher for me. DEFINITELY calling you a cholita lol but just saying that I’m taking the time out now to share that you give off the same brilliant, powerful, medical provider vibes that she did and I’m so excited for your future! If you encounter any young emts who stumble over their words or stare at you just a lil bit🥹, say hi - they might just be a little admirer that you’ve inspired, who wants to learn to be a baddie like you. If you don’t mind me saying from my heart, Felicidades mijita! And if I’ve offended, my deepest apologies and please lmk so I can do better.💗
Thank you so much you are so sweet!!! I really hope my videos help you in some way! LOL and yes I can recall multiple times I have been told about my "Accent" especially when I was in other states in my younger years of schooling. I hope you are doing well and all the best to you!
from one adri to the other, CONGRATS GIRLYYYYYYY :)
Thank you so much!!
I'm so happy for you. 👏👏👏
thank you so much!
Congratulation’s 🙌🏼🙌🏼I just started my pre -Pa journey and I hope to get as far as you
Awe thank you! And trust and believe you will and already are. All the best to you!
Muchas gracias :)
How expensive was your program? My program is so high :/ not looking forward to it
Hey Diplo! I really believes this question falls into the vague reply and I apologize in advance. This is a very subjective answer because it really depends on financial aid, if you are in state vs out of state due to the tuition, scholarships, if you have savings before going in to the program, housing situation vs living on campus etc. I can say that we will be financially stable hopefully once one and certified that we will be able to pay back these loans soon!
I love your videos, but in most of your videos, I feel like you are whispering. I always have to turn on my captions.
Noted!
Great to see women of color in Medicine! Very aspiring for me as I am a minority myself!
We can do anything we set our mind to!
Did you incorporate your heritage background into your statement (sorry if I’m assuming by your name)?
Hi! I did not but I did mention the area I grew up in and how that affected a lot of the populations ability to have healthcare which was a gray area into painting a picture in regards to my background! I hope that makes sense
Hi! Would you study before your lectures? I saw you mentioned you made a chart before hand. How long would it take for you to study before the next class?
My review before the lecture of the day would consist of me doing my best to keep my chart updated. Let's say I had 2 days of content: - I would add/review day 1 content on my chart on day 0 (the day before). - I would then review day 1 content again after class on day 1 still. Later that same day I would add day 2 content to be ready for day 2 and so on. This way I have reviewed day 1 content 3x (while adding it to my chart, during class, and after class) and day two content 3x by the end of day 2 as well. - I hope this made sense, basically I would prep for the next day by adding it to my chart this way I would review it while adding it and keeping my chart up to date. Keeping my chart up with lecture I could add extra info during class, usually things the professors would say during class that I found helpful as well! - In regards to how long I would take would depend on how much content there was! Let me know if you have any more questions!
I love these !! Thank you for being realistic on what to do when your off
You are so welcome!
I have a few questions: I just finished my BS in Biology, my final grades are not in yet but I know I passed my classes. How do I request transcripts to be sent to CASPA? can I start filling out my CASPA information? I started filling it out before and then yesterday I had to request a re-application and wait for 24hrs to get my application up to date. I picked all the schools I wish to attend but that's where I'm stuck because I don't have my transcripts to upload. The letters of recommendation, should I ask the people to give it to me, or is it something then send to CASPA? Sorry for the questions it's that I don't have any guidance and I'm so lost. I will hopefully take my GRE next month. Should I wait after that to finish my application process?
Hi, don't fret! You are doing great by starting out the application already, fill out everything else you can, do not let the transcripts stop you from completing the rest of the application. On CASPA I believe there is directions on where to direct your transcripts to automatically or by mail! My university offers the ability to request and send the transcript via web. I had one extra transcript from another college I had to personally mail! I would continue filling out my app and calling your college/university and asking how you can request and send your transcripts! In regards to the letter of recommendation, you need to send them a link via CASPA after adding their information (email etc) on CASPA in their appropriate section! Now about the GRE this is directly off the CASPA Website " Official GRE scores from ETS can be received by CASPA at any point during the application cycle, even after your application is submitted or verified; however, some programs may have a deadline by which they want your scores posted." I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and let me know how it goes!
@@AdriPA-C Thank you so much. I will keep on working on my application and also keep studying for my GRE. I hope to try to get into any school by the Fall or Winter semester.
@@johnguillen68 you can do it! Best of luck!!! Let me know how it all goes!
Thanks for the tip on OneNote vs Notability! I was debating which one to get and that helped!
Of course! They are both very great portable notebooks to use but they each have their perks! :) I am glad this video helped!
Which video shows how you set up your content?
Hi!! I show a clip at the very end of this video where I show a table I made on Google Docs showing how I would create my Charts! If that is not enough I do not mind making a video on how I make a chart in general!
@@AdriPA-C thank you! I’m starting PA school in June and I’m just looking for ways to study and use my time efficiently! Are there any other tips/tricks to studying or making outline that you use?
@@caitlinrierson5423 I would honestly say the biggest tip of all is: DEDICATE TIME TO ALL your courses! It is super easy to want to give all your time to the harder/more hour weighed course....but you dont want to neglect the one hour course and get a C in that to get the A in the other course. I would recommend giving enough time to them all and then if you have time left you go back to the ones giving you a harder time to focus more on those after you have given even time to them all to stay in more even distrivution grades like ABBBABA instead of ACBCBCB you know? Hope this helps a bunch :)
Did you try to do an hour per day for all of your classes or mainly for the classes for that day and the next day?
@@genesisc5811 Hi Genesis! I tried my best to always be 1-2 days, but most of the time it was 1 day ahead! That way I could prepare for the next day! For example: I would prepare Sunday for Monday, so Monday (by this time I had gone over content x2 - day before and professor went over it in class) I could prepare for tuesday etc. Even though that was not always the case I tried my best to do that and it helped. Trust me there was times I was 1 day or more behind but REGARDLESS I would always give each class their time YES! I would catchup eventually especially on weekends! hope this answer helped and let me know if you need more clarification, have a great day <3
I love your videos they help me so much and I will definitely be using these tips :)
