As a resident of Kedron Hills that has three children, I empathize with Lilly and her family. But let us all be clear about one thing. The reduction in pass through traffic caused by the gate on crabapple lane is actually making Lilly's drive to work safer. Our neighborhood has narrow through streets with no sidewalks. Even with the gate, we continuously see problems created by the mix of pedestrians, speeding delivery vehicles, construction and lawn service trucks, golfcart traffic, and residents who are not paying close enough attention to speed limits or are distracted by phones etc. Our neighborhood suffers from a street safety issue that causes Loring Lane residents to restrict their children from playing in the front yard of their homes. Opening Loring as a "cut through" to PTC for residents of all neighborhoods north of PTC, as well as commercial vehicles, increases the probability of bodily injury or death for travelers on that road. Lilly is much safer now that the traffic is restricted, as are the children and residents of Kedron Hills. The real solution to this issue is for the people of Tyrone to have a safe route to reach the Kedron Shopping center by way of Tryone sponsored golf cart trails where speeding car traffic is not an issue. Another obvious solution would be for anyone that needs daily access to that area by golf cart or foot to move closer to their work. Claiming that the residents of PTC are putting anyone in danger is extremely disingenuous at best. Kedron Hills is only concerned with the safety of people traveling on Loring Lane, and of its residents. The people fighting against the closure are only interested in using our neighborhood as a shortcut with no regard for our (or Lilly's) safety.

Remove the gate. $1.7 million in withheld tax resources because of this thing means the citizens of PTC either have to shoulder the deficit or there is a commensurate decrease in services. If the residents/HOA of Kedron Hills want to keep the gate, they should cover the shortfall, otherwise this impacts ALL PTC residents. Add to that, the city charges a premium usage rate to non residents for cart access, which could further impact revenue to the city. An analysis of the financial impact should be done, and Kedron Hills residents/HOA should pay the difference.

Do not open the Crabapple gate! Want the paths, move to Peachtree City. It's just that simple.

I am hoping that the council votes in favor of opening the cart path, again. When I moved over, I bought a new cart at golf rider in Peachtree city. Once the wall was put in place, I sold it. If the wall opens up to golf carts again then I will buy a second golf cart. As a retiree, I would love to join a golf membership then leave my home on Farr Road in Tyrone and drive to a golf course on the paths with my own cart. The golf cart paths are wonderful and it would great if they are open once again to Tyrone residents.
