GISELLE paces anxiously while ROBERT stands with clenched fists. MORGAN, fuming, stands defiantly in front of them. GISELLE (worried) Oh, Morgan. ROBERT (furious but trying to stay composed) What… where have you been? MORGAN (angry and defiant) I went to New York by myself. GISELLE By yourself? MORGAN I’ve been riding the subway alone since I was 13, let’s calm down, please. ROBERT Don’t tell me to calm down. What were you thinking? MORGAN Oh, I don’t know, Dad. I… I was thinking maybe you should’ve left me there where I belong. GISELLE You belong here. MORGAN No, I don’t. Look, I know you want to live in some fairytale-(sarcastically)-but we don’t, okay? GISELLE, overcome with emotion, rushes out the back door. ROBERT, panicked and desperate, chases after her. EXT. BACKYARD - CONTINUOUS GISELLE heads straight for the WISHING WELL. ROBERT runs after her, his face filled with worry. ROBERT (pleading) Wait, Giselle, don’t leave over this! I know Morgan didn’t mean a thing she said about you. GISELLE Maybe it’s better if I hadn’t come to New York that night and met you and Morgan ten years ago. Maybe she’s better off if I’m not around. GISELLE steps onto the edge of the wishing well and turns to ROBERT. GISELLE Goodbye. Before ROBERT can react, GISELLE jumps into the wishing well. ROBERT rushes to the well’s edge, staring into the darkness below. ROBERT (desperately) Giselle! No! He leans in, hoping for a response, but the water is silent. He falls to his knees, tears streaming down his face. The weight of his loss crashes over him. ROBERT (sobbing) Giselle... come back... please... INT. KITCHEN - MORNING The morning light filters through the kitchen windows. MORGAN comes downstairs, still groggy from sleep. She shuffles into the dining room and freezes as she sees ROBERT sitting at the table. His head is buried in his arms, and his shoulders are shaking with silent sobs. MORGAN (tentatively) Dad? What happened? Where’s Giselle? ROBERT lifts his head slowly, his face streaked with tears. He looks at MORGAN with a mixture of sadness and exhaustion. ROBERT (voice cracking) Morgan... after what you said to Giselle last night... she went back home. MORGAN (confused and alarmed) What do you mean? She went home? How? I thought... I thought... ROBERT (sobs) She went to the wishing well. I didn’t even get the chance to explain before she left. She... she jumped in. MORGAN (shocked) The wishing well? Dad, what are you talking about? ROBERT (trying to compose himself) Giselle was so hurt by what you said... she thought it would be better if she wasn't here. She went to the wishing well and... she disappeared. MORGAN (stunned) No, this can’t be real. I didn’t mean it. I was just... angry. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. ROBERT (desperate) I know you didn’t mean it. But it doesn’t change what’s happened. She’s gone, and I don’t know if we can ever get her back. MORGAN (tears welling up) Dad, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know... I didn’t know it would come to this. How can we fix this? ROBERT (sorrowful) I don’t know, Morgan. I don’t know if we can fix it. All we can do now is try to understand how much we’ve hurt her and hope, somehow, we can find a way to make it right. MORGAN sits down next to ROBERT, her own tears beginning to flow. The two sit in silence, the weight of their loss settling heavily around them. MORGAN (whispering) We have to try, Dad. We have to do something. ROBERT (nodding, wiping his tears) Yes, we will. Giselle is extremely petrified that Edward murdered her baby daughter out of anger. It is the last straw for Robert.) Robert: (screaming angrily to the top of his lungs) *YOU THREW MORGAN AND MURDERED SOPHIA!!!* (Robert grabs him by the shirt and throws him out the window. Giselle sees a dead Sophia horrendously bleeding in her cradle and cries uncontrollably. Rest of the film goes on normally.)
