I was on the ground-floor of installing & maintaining the Mainframes & Telecommunications systems that these dispatchers use to control the power-grid at HL&P. It was called the Energy Management & Control System (EMACS) in Houston, Tx. Very intense operations & pressures; but we were an awesome-team!

I'm very proud and lucky to have been part of this company for almost 35 years. I helped migrate the amazing computer system from analog to digital - from IBM mainframe to distributed network. The men and women working in this control center are my heroes. They come to work every day in all this mess we are having so the rest of us can enjoy the benefits of electric power.

WOW! You never think about what is on the other side of the electric receptacle in your house.

Nuclear power should be the primary source of electric power. There is no air pollution. It works 24/7 rain or shine. It cost more than natural gas and coal power generation, but, it is dependent and no air pollution. Now days, we can build nuclear power plants farther away from population centers because we now have the technology to transmit power long distances efficiently using high voltage DC and solid state DC to AC converters. Too many people ignorantly believe that nuclear power plants are just ticking time bombs. Wind and solar are not 100% renewal, many products are expended in the process of production and maintenance. Wind and solar need very expensive storage. "Renewal energy" has become a another religion, rather than a science, just like the "global warming" & "climate change" religions.

I am grateful that I have access to electricity. The very essence of my life was supplied by electricity (among other things.)
