Iggy Pop interview on the Tom Snyder Show 1980
This is seriously the most decrepit that I've ever seen Iggy. It was back when he was reduced to schmoozing with Tom Snyder and releasing soulless 80s rock albums to support his smack habit. Fortunately, his career finally rebounded in the early 90s when HBO hired him to host their new show Tales from the Crypt.

Iggy came off as a smuck to begin with and then did a whole 180 and showed a degree of intelligence that silenced everyone LOL

i love how norm macdonald did a callback to tom snyder's extreme close up technique of making someone looks even hobo and crazier looking on his video podcast with David Letterman

It's interesting that both Iggy and Alice (who's careers have often paralleled, except, as Alice even once pointed out, Iggy was street and Alice was showbiz) gave odd, walking wreck (read: inebriated) interviews on the Tom Snyder show.

I give Tom Snyder credit - he interviewed Iggy Pop, The Clash, Kiss and U2 (among others). He tried to capture what the public was interested in at the time. However, you can tell he's indifferent to it and somewhat baffled by what "today's kids" were into. Snyder came from the get married and sit up straight generation. Everything that happened once the Beatles arrived has mystified people like him.

I really like John Lydon now but he was an idiot here. These two guys and JL to a greater extent were contrived angry for angry sake morons. They go on this show to promote something and he acts like a spoiled kid that's pissed off at his dad. This has nothing to do with youthful expression it's rehearsed belligerence. JL has changed a lot since these days. He was contradicting himself. JL was all about image here. This whole interview was a facade put on for publicity. He just called all the people that bought his records senile animals. Nice! I like what punk represented and I liked their music but this was complete bullshit. It doesn't matter what Tom asked him, he made his mind up that he was going to be difficult. Just a kid showing off.
