The football team can't be anymore pitiful than they were for the past few years but I'm not really thrilled about the season. Basketball and Volleyball? Hard yes.

My speculation, based on the timing, is Pez got caught looking for another job and that was the final, abrupt straw for UH admin.

I watched the Houston team in Norman playing Oklahoma on ESPN+. During the Saturday game several times coaches had to go to the circle. That isn't unusual, it happens every game. But what was odd is that it seemed liked the coaches were having to explain fundamentals as if they were in a practice session and not an active game. Body language and watching the back and forth I concluded, "none of these women are on the same page. Communication is broken." I watched TV scans of the Cougar dugout; I thought it was odd that the players seemed so anxious. The vibe was clearly off and the play on the field reflected that. How that loops back to the off field problems you guys address is unclear. Your video is the first I've learned of the player with a gun. But without question, the Houston Cougars was a troubled group. The Sooners swept the Cougars in 2 run rule games and a third game 5-0. Hope Trautwein got her first assistant pitching coach position at Houston in 2024. Hope put the Sooners on her back in 2022 and pitched them to their 2nd consecutive WCWS championship. She has an excellent pedigree: 2022 WCWS All-Tournament Team … 2022 All-Big 12 First Team … 2021 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year at North Texas. Hope received excellent training in coaching from 6 time WCWS champion pitching coach Jennifer Rocha. Trautwein is a veteran at the highest levels of Division I softball. She's got a big heart in addition to being a talented softball player and mind. I sense that she was caught in a cross fire on the problems you outline. She was faced with being a first year coach and really didn't have any power in the situation. I don't know if she is "done" with Houston or what her status is other than she's pitching in Athletes' Unlimited AUX at this time. But I would be reluctant to point any fingers at her until further evidence is revealed.

As UH alum and fan, this is all horrible. The Softball players (the one creating the issues and toxic/unsafe, life threatening environment) and program needs a complete clean house, this is like 2018-2019 UH Soccer team and program with player treatment, disregard, getting hospitalized and diagnosed with Rhabdo. UH Administration and Sports Administration for Althetics has to be better/do better and be investigated for this. None of this means anything as fans who support and care for our alma mater if for our athletes who goes out to perform if they aren't safe and cared for.

Baseball and Women’s basketball in purgatory as usual. Annoying.

Why would we ever invite Texas back to Houston ? They’re very clearly not on our level and there’s absolutely no reason to give them the credibility and prestige of playing at the FC.

What’s UTSA’s current ranking for 2024? 120 with 6 recruits.

If we didn’t get the Hail Mary and a 2-point conversion, we’d only have won 2 games against SHSU and UTSA. Which that one was debatable on that last call with UTSA.

The schedule has been set up for him to succeed the last 3yrs. He had 3 winnable OOC game and he managed to lose one and he should have lost against UTSA. We have been bad on both sides of the ball this year. He had this rep as a great offensive coach but the offense looked like it was stuck in mud all season. I could deal with a bad defense if you are scoring 40 ppg but we compounded bad defense with the 100th ranked offense in the nation.

I was surprised as anyone the donors ponied up the money for the buy out. Shows me that mediocrity is unacceptable….and I LIKE IT!

The fanbase has given up on this regime a long time ago, but the powers that be just think they are going to support the program blindly when there is no hope of success. The fact is there is talent on this roster but these coaches have no clue on how to put them in position to succeed.

I am so doom and gloom I just knew they were going to drive down and score on us to take the lead. They didn't run like I assumed they would against us but all those chunk plays especially on 3rd down were killing us the entire game. Thank goodness the QB went brain dead and took off his helmet on the field and gave us those 15yds.
