sounds like this band took slipknot snare patterns, and added core to it, but sped up the core part, while only using single kicks slowing down the kick patterns to more of a rock style. if you want to play drums for "criminally" underrated bands, play some katatonia. (their drums are ridiculously hard to play, like my brain can't even fathom it.) some parts are like (ooh this is easy) then you listen to it and the way the drums are articulated and meshed together into their songs makes it so artistic, and extremely difficult as you'd have to learn about 30+ sections just for a 3 minute song. all while having a soulful timing interval. if you can crack out a katatonia cover, i'd be blown away. i knew a guy who could blast beat, and play extremely difficult metal drums, but he couldn't even touch the intricately intimate drums of a regular katatonia song.
