คันตามเขาควรจะปล่อยให้ไอน้ำออกไปเฉยๆ เพื่อให้คันนำวิ่งได้สะดวก ไม่ถูกฉุดเพราะรถวิ่งเดินหน้ากับถอยหลัง เร็วไม่เท่ากัน
ลิ้นระบายไอกำลังทำงาน คันตาม แรงดันไอน้ำน้อยกว่า เสียงเลยต่ำกว่าคันนำที่เสียงสูงตามแรงดันไอน้ำ
เสียงหวีดมันจะฟ้อง ที่จริงคันตามถ้าปล่อยเกียร์ว่าง รถจะวิ่งได้เต็มที่ ส่วนคันมิกาโดน่าจะมีการดัดแปลง เอาตู้โบกี้มาต่อแล้วข้างในเป็นดีเซลไฟฟ้า
