Mariana C. Horton - New England Oireachtas 2018
This is a video of my final performance at the 2018 New England Regional Oireachtas, the qualifying competition for the World Irish Dance Championships. The dance I am performing was specifically choreographed for me by world champion Irish dance teachers Byron Tuttle and Brendan Brady to the tune of the Drunken Gauger (speed 70).
The choreography was created to highlight my strengths as a dancer as well as reflect traditional aspects of Irish dancing. An international panel of three judges scored this dance, which placed me third overall in the ladies under 19 competition and qualified me for the World Championships in Greensboro, NC this spring.

Beautiful dancing! For those who are wondering, 70 is referring to the speed of the music (70bpm) not her age. Set dances are danced at a speed of the dancer/teacher’s choice so it is specified after the name of the tune.

Oh yeah, this is white people's dancing. Without rhythm or cause, legs locked in a rictus of virginal intent, unsmilingly ferocious to the extent that if a moment of gladness were to intrude or an arm were to fail in unfettered merriment, then you get a fulsome kick to the goolies and another to the head for exposition.
If you hadn't told us she was 70 I'd never have believed you!

Judging from these videos Irish dancing might be the #1 workout to add near perfect muscle tone to your legs.
When it comes to Irish dancing there's a fine line between amazing and goofy.
Like some kind of contest to move your feet really fast while having your arms clasped tightly to your sides. You could be completely armless and still win! Sounds like Ireland

This is traditional Irish dance. Search RUclips and you'll see some pretty amazing work, including how it blends with other cultures.

Hey I am an Irish dancer and I am 12. I have just moved out of grades to Championship and i aspire to get to the Worlds one day like you! Do you have any tips on how to turn feet out more and kick higher as those are my weak points. Also any tips on how to stand on your tips/toes in heavy shoes? You are amazing xoxo
So turn out Use stickers on your shoes or buy turn out socks (if u use stickers make sure to take them off for when you go to your dance school practice and feises ) For tip toes Fold your shoes then put them under a couch for 7-48 hours depending how pointed your shoes are Kicks Make sure you pul up after them and have a positive mind set lastly just make sure your shoulders are back I hope that helped I’m only a prelim and my weak point is ARMS ARMS ARMS so yea just work really hard on those tips and you will get even better at those things so yea I hope those tips help and I know your pretty good at those things because your a champion Irish dancer but yea those are some tips Edit:ik this is so long I’m srry

And some tips for keeping your arms in - put a piece of paper under each arm and if you drop them when dancing you need to make sure you are pulling your arms in more. I hope that helps, its a trick my teacher taught me! Good luck for when we can go back to feises again! :)

Beautiful dancing. Even better without wigs which make female dancers' heads look huge. Also why the white American 'bobby sox' ? White socks look daft on an adult female.
They're poodle socks. It's part of the Irish dance getup. Everyone wears them.
