HAA! Who "showered every day" in the 15th to 17th centuries! This is preposterous. To think that the Spainards arrived on the shores of the Americas, thanks only to incredible innovation in naval, maritime, navigational, cartographic et. al. disciplines, and found a peoples who due to a variety of factors (let me be very clear: their inferiority WAS NOT a factor, i don't believe this at all) had not yet domesticated live stock, discovered/began using the wheel, developed munitions from the development of gun powder, BUT did "shower" or bathe or whatever everyday, or even very often, is dubious. Especially considered no one, not even the advanced Western Europeans, had discovered the microscopic world of bacteria, virus, fungal species, etc. which would motivate such a behavior. Furthermore, i don't think "cleanliness is close to Godliness" was a thing along the polytheistic religions of the Aztec, Mayan, Incan, etc. They were killing their own people atop ziggurats, removing their hearts in sacrifice to their gods. That notion, ironically, would be more attributive to the Christian/Catholic religion that was brought with the Europeans and adopted at a very high rate throughout the Americas.
