For all people of a certain age who remember the real Scotsport theme - not this one - You can get it from Amazon - its called Sportsflash from an album called sounds visual volume 2 .
And curling! Your heart would sink when you’d see Scotsport advertised as starting at half two and there would be Arthur in his blue STV anorak presenting from an ice riink , with no mention of when the foitball highlights would be on so you’d have to keep watching !!!
Scotsport hosted by the late Arthur Montford who commentated on matches to do with the old firm rivals of Celtic and Rangers and the two Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibs too. RIP Arthur Montford
Wonderful score with the great hymn of the USMC as it should be played, with a fast tempo, as fits a fast fighting force, not the slow tempo of recent playings.
Arthur Montford is Mr Scotsport
Sportscene is a poor imitation.
His commentary for Celtic 5 Sporting Lisbon 0 in the early 80s was legendary
It sounds a bit Spanish not like it was meant for a football program in Scotland
i might be a bit daft but did this theme not come in around about 1978? you know when we were going to beat the World but didn't quite manage it?😊
What ever happened to STV? No sport, soaps, indeed entertainment any more, just the 6 o’clock news and the dire Scotland Tonight. 😢
And English Women's football.
Watch out Billy.
Is that the original theme tune, when Ian Archer did the show with Arthur M,about 77 or 78. ?
Not sure i do know was used from I remember very early 80 to about 88 I think
My granddad's band did the theme for this, he's the drummer.
Your grandad is s legend then brillant tune memory as well
@@darrenross9973 he was a big band leader in Glasgow in the 50's & 60's.
@@terencej72 An unsung hero.then good to know about people behind the music in general
As a fellow drummer, your Grandad excelled here.

Do you have the 1988 theme at all ?
no i know there is bits on here of it but no full tune as of yet but i keep an eye out for it
a sensation
The Ball comes in Up go the Heads
Never forget the congratulations he gave dunfermline, after beating celtic in 1961, winning the Scottish Cup,sheer class
Preferred Arthur to Archie
STV, bring this back now. I would like this theme to be my ringtone, alas I don’t know how.
It's a stramash
Super Gran, Bullseye, and Scotsport, essential Sunday teatime viewing 👌
slightly earlier than that, you would have Glen Michael's (Cartoon) Cavalcade
Remember when they had Julian and the Irish bint presenting it? 🤦♂️
takes me straight back to my teen years on a boring sunday afternoon with nothing much to do
Im sure there was a ScotSport theme before this , it sounded like a really dreary trumpet playing but cant find it anywhere..
Im sure your right 60s early 70 s

Sportscene had a trumpet tune as well.
Scotsport wasn't only football, but boxing, athletics and snooker. Darren can vouch for that

Darren what do you know about Arthur Montford's sports coats that he uses to commentate on STV?
Oh not much just remmber him wearing them and me watching it back in the day in the 80s happy days
Arthur Montford catchphase" It's a goal or disaster"
