Arthur Montford is Mr Scotsport
Sportscene is a poor imitation.
His commentary for Celtic 5 Sporting Lisbon 0 in the early 80s was legendary
It sounds a bit Spanish not like it was meant for a football program in Scotland
i might be a bit daft but did this theme not come in around about 1978? you know when we were going to beat the World but didn't quite manage it?😊
What ever happened to STV? No sport, soaps, indeed entertainment any more, just the 6 o’clock news and the dire Scotland Tonight. 😢

Is that the original theme tune,when Ian Archer did the show with Arthur M,about 77 or 78. ?
Not sure i do know was used from I remember very early 80 to about 88 I think
My granddad's band did the theme for this, he's the drummer.

Im sure there was a ScotSport theme before this , it sounded like a really dreary trumpet playing but cant find it anywhere..

For all people of a certain age who remember the real Scotsport theme - not this one - You can get it from Amazon - its called Sportsflash from an album called sounds visual volume 2 .

Scotsport wasn't only football, but boxing, athletics and snooker. Darren can vouch for that
And curling! Your heart would sink when you’d see Scotsport advertised as starting at half two and there would be Arthur in his blue STV anorak presenting from an ice riink , with no mention of when the foitball highlights would be on so you’d have to keep watching !!!

Wonderful score with the great hymn of the USMC as it should be played, with a fast tempo, as fits a fast fighting force, not the slow tempo of recent playings.
