Korvapuusti done, so right now I'd like to bake those cookies you made ! How do you call them ?
There are many cookies, which ones you mean? In the new Baking Book I have recipes for S cookies, Wilhelmina cookies, Aunt Hanna's cookies, Oat cookies.. My favorite recipe is not a cookie, it's Runeberg cakes. And my recipe is really good 😋😋
@@Tuijatuulia All look so good, but I'd like to try the biscuits that are cut after being baked in the oven !
@@raijaweiler8292 Wilhelminas are really good, they are cut diagonally right after baking 😋😋 You can find the recipe in the book: feelslikefinland.com/products/the-finnish-baking-book-with-american-measurements-1
Kiitos , I just made this with diced lamb , my grandmother used to make with lamb on the bone , but its all good !!
@@Tom-wd5bs Oh wonderful! Food brings back wonderful memories when you taste those dishes from way back.. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your memory!
This is such a good recipe!and i'm from finland too
Thank you ❤ It's from my grandma in Northern Karelia!
thanks for the recipe, i was searching for the ratio flour to milk. I like the milk first trick i also add some vanilla essence (couple drops), bit more sugar, a few drops of water, a bit of melted butter into the mix too
Yep, milk first is the traditional way I learned from my grandma. Who made the best ones.. she always piled them putting sugar in between 😊
Hi! When I was in Finland we tried individual blueberry pies that were on a soft crust like this one, but they also had a creamy filling. Is that traditional? If so, what are the crust ingredients and what are the bread ingredients? It was so lovely that I dream about having them again
@@rayatunes There are so many different ones.. do you have a picture of those, or where did you eat them? It might help in finding the one you loved 😍
I will make it and post it as a reply here.
I can’t find canned peaches anywhere..
Tried making, melted the butter too much it turned liquid and now my dough is too liquidy
made it btw, idk if reply deleted or not
These look so good!
@@zazanya1 Thanks! They taste soo delicious 😋
I just learned about karjalanpiirakka in my Finnish practice and as soon as I heard "mashed potato pastry with egg spread" I have been so curious to try! Thanks for making this easy to follow, real recipe!

Wow this is very similar to the way my family prepares our potato salad! I’m from Texas. I’ve never used capers though or added Greek yogurt but I will try this version too! 😊 Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I left Helsinki in 2002, nowhere in the UK can I get decent rye bread, also love that you mention Vaasan, there's a reason it's everywhere. Some folk would look down on it and think it's not artisinal enough, kiitoksia paljon
I'm so hungry..
Recipe videos sometimes do that! 😂😅
@@Tuijatuulia Especially yours!
@@CakeInvasion11 Thank you ❤️
hey, Tuija. Thanks for the recipe. You mention that the original recipe doesn't have yeast or sugar. Can you quickly mention how to make the original recipe? Thank you!
You can just leave them out. I added those because my starter is new, to guarantee that the dough is proofing well. Proofing may take more time without sugar and yeast.
It does not affect the taste much, adding that sugar and yeast. And most rye bread sold in Finland nowadays has both.
@@Tuijatuulia Tuija, thanks for your kind reply. I didn't notice it though. Right now I'm about to put them in the oven - excited! Wish me luck! Kiitos palijon, hyva reseptia!!!
@@engwithvlad@engwithvlad Good luck! Let them cool a bit after baking.. 😅 and cover under a towel. They are fine when still a bit warm, with butter of course 😊 Remember to freeze some of the dough for next time!
Hello. I'd like to purchase some ancient Finland bread starter. I just found out I'm part Finnish. I've always loved Finnish Rye. Can you steer me as to where I can? Thank you so much!
Hi, no need to buy a starter. Find the nearest place that sell Finn Crisps (they are quite common worldwide) and see this recipe and make the starter yourself. You're welcome: feelslikefinland.com/blogs/finnish-food-recipes/finnish-rye-bread-with-starter

Delicious. Here in italy we have a similar recipe using "stracchino", olive oil, and "cinta senese" meat!
And then go out and run a marathon to burn everything!
😄😄 no need for marathon with Finnish food, e.g. one Karelian pie weighs about 60 g, it's less than 180 kcal, and that even includes butter on top. It's about same as 30-35g of milk chocolate in calories. Guess with which you will run longer.. 🤩
@@Tuijatuulia too bad. I was hoping I had found an excuse to escape from marital duties 😄
@@orsodaspiaggia Haha 😂 But why would anyone want to escape such fun?
@@Tuijatuulia it would be fun if i didn't have to cook, do laundry and clean the house on top of working to support three kids all by myself! when i get to the evening i'm exhausted and i have to work overtime even in bed. i deserve a vacation in finland! 😄
@@orsodaspiaggia I hope you find a solution how to share the home chores (Luckily kids learn fast!) to have more energy and time to rest. I participated to cooking from the age I could reach the counter, so you can teach your kids too. And to clean and so on.
I have a low revenue, about 450$/month. This will be my dinner later! Thank you

It's a Finnish Tiger Cake! I'm not sure on the recipe for marmorkuchen, can you send me one?
Is it alright to replace the onions with onion powder? Because I don’t eat onion at all.. 😅
Sure you can. Dried onion flakes are also an option.

Hi, here's the whole recipe: feelslikefinland.com/blogs/finnish-food-recipes/traditional-finnish-macaroni-casserole-mac-in-a-box
Yum
Bro it takes a week why am I getting this today than lol
Better late than never they say 😋
And mine was quite ok already in 4 days, but the taste improves if I keep it the whole week in the fridge.
thanks for the recipe, i'm going to have to give a try one of these days. I'm curious what the alcohol content is though - do you think you can do another video showing the hydrometer reading?
Hi, thanks for commenting! Sorry, I don't have a way to measure alcohol content of sima. And during the fermentation it changes every day. But in Finland also kids drink sima, so I guess it's not much even after 1 week
From some rough calculations, 2.5 cups of sugar in 4 liters is potentially 10% ABV But since this calls to ferment room temp for just a day and then a week in the fridge, using active dry yeast, I would _guess_ somewhere around 2-3% max
These look yummy! It's nice that all the ingredients are things I regularly have in my home. Thank you for the recipe.
Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️
you missing a fried egg on top to be even more perfect! 😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. I love this type of food specially in winter! 😂👍🏻. thank you for posting it!
