You need to leave more on. That's a little too tight. By the time you put another tight coat and then sand,you're gonna sand everything off. Should be putting more on this coat,then a tight finish. This is how much you put on when you first install the tape. Have a great day! I am plasterer 1963

You gotta leave more mud than that for your next coat. Use a wider blade, that one is too small for that joint work. I really think that you would be better off using a hawk and trowel. Have you tried it? You need someone to help you learn to use it. A lot of new tapers use the knives because it's easier to learn without anyone really showing you. Nothing personal, just throwing stuff out there. Keep on throwing the mud on!😊
