3D Pop-Up Art Demystified – A Simple How-to Guide by Rob the Art Teacher
Here are my 8 simple steps for learning the basics of 3D Pop-Up Art.
Follow along with the first part of the video which is a practice session that allows you to learn my 8 simple steps for Pop-Up Art.
Then watch the second part of the video, where I demonstrate one example of how to get creative Pop-Up - this is to inspire your own creativity.
I do not recommend that you copy my color example of Pop-Up Art, but that you create your own. When I teach this in school with my students aged from 9 years to 14 years, they practice the copy paper basics (the first part of this video), and then I give them free-choice as to how they will use these basics for their own creation.
As a result, I find ...

😍🌸 You will love this clever Spring flowers art activity for dark Winter days by Rob the Art Teacher

So, here is a simple antid...

Deciduous tree leaves are more robust than in Spring, and so they take the ink better and give great impressions. 🌿This video demonstrates what my students and I call the ‘sandwich’🥪 method for hand-pulling leaf prints. Fantastically simple, and easy to do for printmaking novices, this method produces two impressions from ...

    • @RobtheArtTeacher
      @RobtheArtTeacher 2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much for your kind comments and your questions!!😊🙏 Yes, I have a channel: www.youtube.com/@RobtheArtTeacher Regarding Paul Klee, that's a big question you ask 😏 and I would suggest two starting points - line and color - to empower you to decipher his compositional organisation for yourself. Line: Try to cancel out narrative, pictorial references, and color, and just focus on the lines in his paintings. A good idea is to make a line copy of one or two of his paintings... Then think of his phrase "taking a line for a walk" and try to imagine where his line drawing started, and se how he 'grows' the composition around the gradual construction of a scaffolding of line drawing. Then try that method for yourself. Color: The logic behind many of his paintings is the way he builds up blocks of harmonious colour relationships that are then energised by selective use of small shapes painted in brighter and bolder contrasting hues... He distributes these to lead our eye in a constant 'walk' around and within the whole composition.

      Thank you so much for your feedback and your great questions. I'll try to answer here... At one level this activity was to build confidence, because at this age (12 years) children start to be quite skeptical about their observational skills, and they simplified ambitions of this project allow them to see that they are actually OK at it! On another level, it was one of several activities I give them at this age that are aimed at helping them draw with patience and curiosity when making observational art. (Incidentally, the training in drawing or painting with quiet, patient curiosity in my classes starts with 9- year-old students who are still at the social-emotional self-expression stage, not yet ready for observational drawing - and here I am getting them to 'listen' to the quietest part of their imagination which usually has new ideas for them... I will be making a video about that soon.) My advice to my 12-year-old students is that if they ever feel they 'can't draw', they should remember their hands have known what to do since they were babies, but their eyes have become trained to scan and flit from side to side (they all understand the experience of rapidly scrolling through images online). Therefore, the real challenge is to see whether they can slow their eyes down (btw, I have another video about that: ruclips.net/video/f-5edcwLJAc/видео.html). Lastly, this activity was also building towards them making much larger still life paintings with acrylic paints - first on A3-size sheets of acrylic painting paper, and then on stretched canvases. For these paintings, they were able to either work from their earlier sketches, or set up a new still life of their choice and work from that. And that activity (lasting several weeks) led to acrylic paintings on paper or on canvases (their choice) of any subject they wished to explore next...

    Thanks for another interesting experiment! I will absolutely try that. Especially, looking forward to taking the 3 main brushes i use and finding out just how many ways i can push them. Im sure ill be surprised. Heres an experiment for you in return. I wanted to do the last inktober but really didnt know how to use inks. So each day i used a non-inktober prompt (curl, square, dots, arch, diamond, swirl, line, grid, etc) and experimented with making those shapes in as many inky ways i could possibly think of. It was a helpful learning experience with no pressure to be good and a handy reference to look back on for inspiration.
