Backing out of avalanche terrain | Wedge Mountain | Whistler
The first real warm day of the spring and we were trying to cross the North East Arete heading towards Wedge Mountain. Our timing all day was off, despite leaving early, we arrived at the critical juncture on the arete long after the sun had already started to play a part in the stability of the snow pack.
Watch as I come to a realization that its time to turn around, I'm still not a 100% sure if it was going to avalanche but the safety margin for me had already been crossed and it was no longer worth it.

I have no idea how you psyched yourself into doing this. Also how you even prep for this kind of shit
Weeeeeeeeek!!

Just seems to go on forever...
Yeah, but did you check the weather before your trip?!
Where is this?
Slalok Mountain, originally known as Rex's Pillar, is a 2,653-metre (8,704-foot) mountain summit located in the Coast Mountains, in Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. It is the third-highest point of the Joffre Group, which is a subset of the Lillooet Ranges.[3] It is situated 24 km (15 mi) east of Pemberton, and 8 km (5 mi) northeast of Lillooet Lake. It is 4 km (2 mi) northeast of Duffey Peak and the nearest higher peak is Mount Matier, 1.9 km (1 mi) to the east.[

How do you find your Ravens for edging in steep stuff? I still haven't fully figured mine out around the slackcountry in Whis. If things get really icy they do feel a bit insecure.
Hell yeah ...
ههههههههه
Nice moves
Так долго не проживёшь. На таком склоне надо организовывать страховку.
I hear you hitting rocks almost every turn…not enough coverage yet man..hope those are your pre season rock skis..stay safe out there in the back
Honestly no rocks till lower down, just variable snow. And yep they are my rock skis haha
This from the last few days? What a beautiful dump it was.
Honey, are you sure your keys were here?
🔥
I would of set my tent there!!!

Dude... you need cramp-ons for that ascent? What is it, sixty, seventy degrees?Toes in, risers up, and SKIN!
Was like 45-50 degrees, did have crampons for it. Made for a really fun climb
@@benjaminrowe1976 (To be clear, I was talking out my ass; I hate skinning, I love bootpacking, and would never even attempt a skin >35°. My wife on the other hand....)
