Thoughts on using thin brick veneer over full thickness brick?
Thin brick is another great option and is used all the time for home exteriors. If you are interested today or just would like more information, please reach out to us at generalshale.com and we can get you connected with a local representative to learn more!
Brick is always gonna win. More solid. Holds up longer. But if you cant afford brick, siding is probably a good option.
I love the brick look and of course longevity of it. I'm considering real brick for at least the front elevation instead of stucco of a new modern farmhouse build in FL. Should I go with full thickness brick veneer or will thin brick veneer hold up just as well and cost a lot less?
Thanks so much for reaching out! We would be happy to connect you with a local team of brick specialists that can help you find the best fit for your build! Send us a message to info@generalshale.com, your best contact info and nearest city and we would be happy to have someone reach out to you regarding brick for your home 😃
Brick is spot on the best siding material. Currently designing a home and we opted for brick. Slightly more expensive but no headaches in the future. May be repointing in 40 or 50 years.
The best commercial ever.
Please create a video comparing natural clay bricks and concrete blocks.
I LOVE THIS BRICK COLOR WHATS THE NAME OF IT ?
Can you give me the phone number
We get it, your simping for bricks jees
Hehe...no bias. Brick has a higher thermal mass. It does not insulate.
now compare bricks to natural stone
Lol when that piece of wood hit the brick wall, it clearly created damage that would require significant work to fix. Oh and maybe next time you do a similar test, make sure it's done apples to apples...if you had a piece of sheathing behind the vinyl it would not have gone through like that, but for this biased test you just put vinyl and nothing else behind it.
Andrew, thank you for taking time to watch our "Brick vs Vinyl" video! While we do not claim that nothing can damage brick, we do stand by the safety of brick compared to alternative claddings, like vinyl, and brick's ability to withstand common weather events such as hail demonstrated in the video. The integrity of the impact test on different common residential wall systems can also be viewed in more detail here: ruclips.net/video/fDk0QKEc02Q/видео.htmlsi=Bs7Hir6BJxTGlFpB And if you have time, please take a moment to view this local news story where lumber pierced into neighboring homes (not built with brick) due to high winds here: ruclips.net/video/YmeEzYjb-bk/видео.htmlsi=IKgdFHbD4EmKbb6v If we can help answer further questions about the durability, safety, longevity and resiliency of brick, please contact us or the Brick Industry Association. We would be happy to provide you with additional resources about masonry products. - GS

No sealant??
but these bricks do not have popular modern look
Real unbiased opinion.
Vinyl siding is for poor people
Earthquakes - brick likley won't hold up... Mortor likley has to be repointed or tuckpointed after 25 years or so. Very expensive and time consuming to do. Brick is not maintenance free.
I'm italian and I've never understood why americans build frame houses instead of brick ones. All houses in our ancient cities are made of brick and stones and are rock solid even after hundreds or even thousands of years, if they were made of wood they would have rotted away centuries ago. Bricks forever!
What's the beauty of White bricks with underlying red tone? One example is Pearl River.
Pearl River sure is a beauty! generalshale.com/products/pearl-river-kingsize/😃
Are these houses made of brick or Wood?
These are stick build homes with exterior brick cladding 🧱😃
On average, building a brick home is about 7% more expensive than building a stick frame, vinyl sided home. So you can pay $400,000 for a hollow box. Or you can pay $425,000 for a solid house that will last hundreds of years.
Thank you for educating me, as a first time home buyer
Thank you for the feedback! We are happy our video was helpful to you 😀
Gorgeous project Tori!
Great video! What colour of Watsontown Brick did Tori use?
Thank you! Tori used Watsontown Brick's Urban Brick Design's "Waterfront Park" thin brick under the Urban Accents line. 😃

Is it possible to lay a brick exterior over wood siding??? Just bought a renovated old home that has new wood siding, but I don't want to remove it before installing brick, unless necessary.
Although it is possible it is not typically recommended as this may prove to be more costly to leave the siding in place. There are many factors involved and additional considerations must be taken into account when bricking over an existing cladding. For detailed information on adding brick to existing construction please refer to the Brick Industry Association’s Technical Note on this here www.gobrick.com/docs/default-source/read-research-documents/technicalnotes/tn-28a-2020-03.pdf?sfvrsn=2 If we can be of assistance in your project, please feel free to contact us here and we will be happy to connect you with a representative 😊 generalshale.com/contact/

This definitely is just a commercial to sell your brick products but from the standpoint of a contractor, like myself, things are not this easy. You can do with fibercement boards everything you can with brick with a fraction of the cost. I can make fibercement walls look like real brick. I understand you have a product and you back your product but it's unethical doing so by basically lying
Brick 🧱 is best just ask the three little piggies 🐷
Su glad I came across of this video, we picked the builder to build our home with General Shale's brick house, snowy ridge is the light color bricks we picked. So excited, can't wait to see them get built.
There is a sea of vinyl home for sale near my home in the Greater Toronto Area, arguable the worlds most insane real estate market, it has failed to sell. Please don’t be cheap and use Vinyl.
This is the brick we'd like to use! But before we purchase it, I'm wondering if you can find out the white paint color and the color of their shingles?
Hi, Brenda! We will check on this for you and reply back shortly! Thanks for commenting! 😊
Brenda, we have not heard back from the homeowner but you can find a lot about the details of their build here: instagram.com/keeverfarmhouse/ 😊
Brenda, the white siding came that way and was from CertainTeed 😊
Finer cement is much more cheaper than this .this video is sponsored by a brick company no wonder haha
Muy detallado
Yet everyone here still uses fake stone
Wait, how can white fade? I can see how it might discolor or chip maybe, but not fade.
Hello, Astrin! The application method used to achieve a white brick can and will cause fading over time. As mentioned at :33 - :41 , our bricks are manufactured with their white color whereas customers may also elect to apply paint after install. Applying paint after install will not deliver the lifespan of a true manufactured white brick and overtime will fade and require it to be painted again to retain the same white color it once had. We hope this information is helpful and please do not hesitate to reach out if we can help further! - GS
@@GeneralShaleBrick But, if white brick fades, isn't the end result still white? I used to work in warranty claims for vinyl siding (I needed a job, okay? Don't judge me.) and I don't think I ever received a call from a customer upset that their white siding had faded. I think I'd remember that. I mean, I remember the customer who covered their stone house with vinyl siding, and was upset because the result wasn't flat and level, and the Affair of the Cypress Guttering. 😉
Where I live 99% of houses are build using bricks. I don't mean veneer exterior brick walls, but two layers of brick walls anchored to each other with 5 inch of insulation and an air-gap in-between.
What do you mean where you live ? Like your neighborhood or your city ? And what do you think about the cost ?
@@seanmcbrearty1365 I live somewhere in the Western-European region, almost the whole country uses set building technique. We recently bought a house ourselves, it's expensive regardless of the build materials. You've to be with two, it's almost impossible to buy anything on your own over here. We found a couple of new wooden buildings in our search, they where either identically priced or actually more expensive per square meter in comparison with their brick counterparts. We settled for a 14 year old 210 sq meter (2260 sq ft) brick building, it's about one monthly wage for the next 20 years on mortgage. The previous owner needed the money due to a divorce, so it's actually on the cheaper side given the size and good state of the building. Brick homes tend to rise in value over time here, so most people see it as an long term investment. Wooden homes are less trusted, thus their price increase slower and less over time. For comparison, my parents house has quadrupled in value, over the past 30 years... Money on a banking account is meanwhile rotting away, due to inflation...
@@timmy7201 Just give it up, you live in the UK. The brits love their brick houses.Wood is "less trusted" because It's at mercy of the elements in a whole different way. Brick is a reliable material but I despise when people try to sell it off as maintenance free. It's not. The mortar needs to be kept up and if it rains on the fascade and live in a cold climate you'll inevitable have stones burst.
@@Teutathis Not living in the UK, but a nearby country across the channel. You're correct that brick buildings do need some maintenance, yet it's far less than an actual wooden house. Based on my parents their house, the only real mandatory maintenance they've done in the past 30 years was to replace their roofing tiles with new ones and swap out some (wooden) window frames for PVC ones, all additional changes (such as added insulation, some new electrical wiring, new floor tiles, etc... ) where technically optional.
@@Teutathis I live in Canada, vast majority of houses have brick veneer (in my city). The eves are large and you need to maintain your roof but it way outlasts siding.
Brick Brick Back!!!!
In Colorado, newer homes are built out of fiber cement, cedar, vinyl and brick facade. And people are buying them at a high price. I prefer brick. My current home is 2/3rds brick and 1/3rd vinyl and I just sold it. The faster home builders can put up a house the better for them$$$. There was a recent fire near Boulder, CO, took down over 1600 homes like they were made out of paper. The homes were cheaply made. Hard to find a brick home anymore. Cost of labor is high.
It's 2022 and I would love to know how much per square foot of brick siding on average. I'm doing a tiny house in Arizona and I wanted the Old Williamsburg brick from Authintic Brick. Can I get a general idea of price??
Good afternoon, Cringe! We are happy to assist. The cost per square foot of brick can range slightly due your project location, full bed or thin brick product, etc. That being said, we are always happy to help assist you with pricing on your project specifically! You’re not suppose to go back over the grout bag filling with a float. Just fill the cracks and let sit for a little bit, then remove excess with trowel. She made a mess
All Indian houses are being built using concrete and bricks. As an Indian, I feel shocked to see the powerful and wealthiest country like the USA is using flimsy wood to built houses. In India, only film-making people will use wood to create fake houses for shooting.

can you replace existing vinyl sidings with brick and will it become same as if bricks were chosen during the first time build?
Absolutely! There are a few different ways to achieve this look. One of the most recent ways we have highlighted how to do this can be found by viewing the following pages. 😀 Operation Damage Control Video: ruclips.net/video/5qzFPKO6i-0/видео.html And our Operation Damage Control Page: generalshale.com/damagecontrol/ If you would like to be connected with a sales representative to learn more, please let us know, we are happy to help.
