6:25 False. Body oil is hydrating. I use it everyday without the need of lotion. Most lotions are too thick for my skin so they dont absorb.

Actually the reason why you shouldn’t wash your face in the shower is because of the bacteria coming from your shower head. You should let mold mildew cleaner sit in where the water comes out for at least five minutes and or something that kills 99% of germs and bacteria.

you can use an oil before lotion, it varies person to person. especially if the lotion is thicker than the oil. personally, i like to do the oil first before my lotion, makes me softer than ever.

100% agree with you on using water based products before oil based product when moisturizing. I always tend towards products and/or routines that can be explained scientifically - if it makes sense at a chemical or biological level then I feel confident that I’m not wasting my time or money. I’m not a chemist but do have knowledge of chemistry from my Bachelor’s degree - I’m by no means an expert and this is extremely surface level but I thought it might be fun to explore exactly why using water based products first then oil based products second works on a chemical level. For simplicity sake, there are two types of molecules - electrically charged (e.g water) and neutrally charged (e.g oils, fats) molecules. Because of the chemical make up of these two types of molecules, they will not mix together. Oil and water in a bottle is a classic example of this - two layers will form, oil on top of water. It’s important to note here the the oil is on *top* of the water and if more water is added it would naturally try and sink below the oil, however would have to find a way to go *around* the oil molecules as it cannot go through them, and if it can’t do so, the water will slide around and off the oil unless in a container. Water is naturally denser (has more mass) than oil so will always try and sink below the oil layer if given the chance. This allows the oil to act as a barrier and is why people talk about ‘locking in’ the moisture when using moisturizers and oils. What is the oil trying to prevent while acting as a barrier, you may ask? The answer is the evaporation of water. Water evaporates from the skin through chemical reactions that turn it from a liquid state to a gas state. By having a protective layer over the moisturizer, the oil is able to *slow down* the evaporation of water throughout the day, allowing skin to stay hydrated for longer. Without the barrier (or if water is trapped outside an oil barrier by applying oil product -> water product) any water on top of the oil will evaporate faster leading to dryer skin. Here are a few other examples of the same phenomenon of oil trapping water; ❤ Membranes - the primary role of the cell membrane (what a lot of people think of as the cell ‘wall’^ and made of fats) is to control what is inside the cell and act as a barrier to the outside environment. But why then do we cleanse with oil cleansers first and water cleansers second? It’s simple - the process needs to be reversed. Applying a water based cleanser first will cause the issue of the water molecules being unable to pass the oil molecules to remove any water soluble (breaks down chemically in water) build up that has accumulated throughout the day, with the water more likely to just slide off the oil barrier and not clean the skin. Where as - like you said - oil breaks down oil, so if it is applied first then that protective layer (and water proof/neutral molecules) gets broken down and ‘reveals’ all the water based impurities that can then be accessed and removed with a water based cleaner. That’s a really surface level/skim of what is happening chemically and why moisturizer -> oil works. Ultimately the goal of moisturizing and applying oils is to hydrate the skin and the best way to do that is to allow for non-charged oil molecules to trap the charged (thus more reactive) water molecules so chemical reactions are less frequent thus less hydration is removed from our skin. Hopefully this is interesting to someone and I haven’t bored everyone with science nerd talk. 😅 ^The cell wall is technically something different and found in plants, but understandably the term has also arisen as a colloquial way of referring to the membrane that holds everything inside cells.

Question- I’m assuming you applying standard lotion/butter etc and oil to entire body than applied scented lotion to specific area than Purfume and oil to those specific areas. Is that correct?? I can’t imagine using scented purfume lotion ( especially high end) everywhere

I just bought this perfume and it’s absolutely horrid 🤢 It doesn’t smell like apples or caramel it smells like old lady musk and the worse part is I can’t return it 😣 But the lotion isn’t bad.

As a 41 year old who used to LOVE to tan. USE YOUR SUNSCREEN!! If I could change one thing about my skin care in my younger years it would be to use sunscreen always. And also not being lazy and wash my makeup away at night 😄

I literally put the vanilla lotion in a Tupperware container and then spray a bunch of vanilla perfume into the lotion.
