I went up that ladder yesterday. Once i was up in the attic there was only natural light up there and noticed it was getting darker instead of it getting lighter from my eyes adjusting to dark from light. Pretty cool experiance

I use one myself first you should not be pulling the wrap material straight out you should be holding the arm down until the red light turns off on base of machine when it does pull the shrink wrap material straight up while keeping arm pressed down when u pull the material straight out it wears out the Teflon that covers the wire which in return will allow the wire to move you need to order a repair kit that comes with the Teflon tape and put a new one on and use it the way i stated above.

To bad you couldnt get up there. I went up there about 2 years ago it was pretty freaky. There are bats up there though, that could be the noise you heard, or it could be paranormal. Iron Island is definitely haunted though, its a fun place to investigate.
