I'd like to see Lars back, too, but considering his channel has mainly been built around GL Basti teams from the beginning (and Basti teams aren't really the safest to be running atm) maybe he doesn't have much content to be showing right now. At least I hope that's all it is.

@@thebottman1 Well I realized that as well. The last season my Great League Battles were the worst. I usually make veteran and thats about as high as I can go given I don't battle that much. Usually my start with great league is great and I reach ACE+ by the end of the first two weeks. The last season was a disaster, Basti team I had just did not work. I tried Basti, Cressilia and Jumpluff that finally seemed to do something for me. I like my Basti. I am now trying Madibuzz in the lead, Sand Slash Alolan and Basti in the back. That did ok. The main thing to account for is Annihilape. Then I tried cressilia, wigglituff and azumaril, that was not half bad either. I am now in the 2300 ELO.

@@MrRk540 Awesome! I've had issues doing as well, too, and that's without running Basti teams. I did reach Veteran last season after a couple seasons drought, and previously I've done as well as Expert. But the current state of GBL is hot garbage, so I don't play nearly as much as I used to.

@@thebottman1 I just enjoy the process of figuring teams out and playing. I usually by end of season put together a team to make veteran during the last 3 weeks of the game. Till then I just use teams I pick up from you tube videos etc. Good luck.

Any help you could give on using this team I would appreciate. Just started with it at 1700. Haven't played much in this cup for 5+ seasons. Only ever got to about 2350 in Master League

Oh yeah, it’s super SUPER squishy.

Either one works! Since most ice type moves can be a one hit KO, shadow definitely has its advantages.

Cres, emp, and basti? I just inadvertently created a toxic monster of a team and have gone 9-1 with it 😂 Basti, cress, drifblim Corebreaker is empoleon funnily enough lol I was seeing 80% drif/froslass leads so i decided to use the wall

Very nice! Yeah, this whole cup has been a lot and A LOT of lead pokemon rotations. Gastrodon, Empoleon, then Drifblim/Froslass and now lots of abomasnow and toxicroak

@@SirLarsOLOT my bastiodon lives for shadow Abomasnow leads, i’ve been recording my battles today and looking back through, it took a lot of hits. I just did another 5-0 set with this toxic bulkmonster team lol. Pvpoke doesn’t quite know what to make of it either, rating it AADA in team builder

That’s great, and thanks for the comment! It can be a tough concept at first (at least it was for me) but once it clicks it definitely clicks

I use my account and my wife’s account in order to get a little bit more footage, or if something is working well for me or not-so-well for her (or vice versa) I’ll usually go with that team and that footage. Sometimes if she doesn’t want to battle or doesn’t like the league, i’ll step in and give it a go

It you see empoleon leads you can swap to a Gastrodon/Empoleon/Drifblim. Going to be making a video about it tonight including how to handle certain pokemon *cough* abomasnow *cough*

Oh yeah, that’s what I try to convey to everyone who is struggling at 2,500 and feels that 3,000 is way far away… once you get past 2,500 “wild west” it gets much easier until the 2,800 range. But yeah, it still takes skill. Just like everything else. For fun, I love love LOVE to switch out the fast move. A good example of this is Cottonee in the little cup and Granbull in great/ultra premier (back in the day). If it was my cottonee vs altaria, I wouldn’t attack and watch them switch to something else. I would swap too, but they would have no idea that my cottonee has razor leaf instead of charm. Same thing for granbull. It’s a fun alternative and confuses people.

Good question! It’s constantly changing (I don’t really like it to be be honest) but I’m usually using a charjabug/Skeledirge/S Vic OR a Charjabug/Poliwrath/Dragonair. There’s always going to be something that can easily beat your team even with a bad lead, but it’s important to find one that happens the least amount of times.

Hey thanks, i’m excited too! Oh yeah, all that “in-between stuff” can turn a bad lead, bad swap, into a victory. The most important thing to remember (especially if you have a bad swap but your starter can easily kill the pokemon they swapped to) is that your bad swap should either kill their pokemon or you need to die with their pokemon having a lot of health left. Their best case scenario is to win the swap-in match with a tiny bit of health. That way your pokemon can’t come back in and farm. Bunch of little things like that i’ll cover in some upcoming videos

Is there usually any particular ELO range near the end of the season that you get stuck at?

It will spawn in the wild, usually whenever an event finishes up. There were some a bit earlier in the season, but luckily we have another month + 1/2 to find them or have an event with them in it. I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for the question!! : )

Hopefully in the future, you will hit legend. There are two “wild west“ ELO ranges and near the end of the season around 2500 is one and the other can be found right at legends. Hopefully we will be able to boost you past 2500 and then hit legend, if you ever have any questions, I am here for you
