Porsche 911 Carrera T Sports Design Spoiler in action.
Here is a nice view from the BlackView rearview camera capturing the Sports Design Spoiler in action. It actually goes so high that you can see it clearly from the rearview mirror.
After being deployed, watch at 0:25" how much higher it goes once I tilted open the glass sunroof. It adds a few more inches!

DIY Oil Change Porsche 911 Carrera T 991.2 (2017+...)
Просмотров 46 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video I will show you how to do an oil change on a Porsche 911 991.2 (2017 ) 3.0 Litter Twin Turbo engine. The first step, not shown on the video, is to get the vehicle on a ramp or jack stands to have clearance below the car. I used a pair of 4" ramps on the back. Please remember to follow safety precautions when doing any work on your vehicle. I am not responsible for any accidents, d...

gloves, remove expensive watch, tower to protect paint....just saying. thanks for the video
great video. thanks!
Do you reset the maintenance count computer with an electronic tool or just ignore the message on the dash? If using a tool, which one do you recommend?
Sorry for the super-late reply! I do reset the oil message using the icarsoft tool. Bidirectional Diagnostic Tool for Porsche/Cayenne, iCarsoft POR V3.0 (Enhance Version) All System OBD2 Scanner, 23+Special Service Code Reader for Porsche, Battery Test, Auto VIN a.co/d/0eXkjz8H
Beautiful watch. Great car. Your video is unbelievable informative instructions. Thank you for posting, I also have 911 - 2018 and it has only 4K miles :-), and because of your video I will do my first EVER oil change job in my life. Any new video PLEASE share. Thanks !!!
Thanks again, I watch before every oil change just for a refresher
Excellent job. Everything I needed was there.
Great video thanks. I am going to try to it as well now after watching your videos. Amazing
Where did you get the rear vent louver with the 911 logo?
Hey Alex, I just got a 911T 2019. Thanks for the oil change tips. Is your dash cam front and back hard wired ?
Good info...thanks for sharing.
Great video, Think I'll just fro to the Porsche dealer. Wrench might be best with handle on left side. Only cleared spoiler by a millionth of an inch:)
Thanks for sharing, much appreciated 🙏
Hi and so thx for your vidéo its amazing
Great video. I’ve now done an intermediate oil change on my T. Can I ask how you have secured the 911T badge on the hood I would like to do the same to mine. Regards Jeremy.
Here's a DIY post I wrote on Rennlist explaining how to do it in detail: rennlist.com/forums/991/1067158-over-engineering-a-simple-task.html
God Job but buy the special tool for the oil you have a porsche
I actually do have the tool, just wanted to show how to do it for those that most likely don't have it... :)
Beautiful Porsche and Rolex Sky Dweller 💯
I’m from Brazil. Congratulations for your explanation
Are the wheel ramps required to get access to drain?
Yes, wheel ramps or some other means of raising the rear of the car. (Alex C used 4-inch ramps in this video; I used 2.5-inch ramps (Amazon), and I got 'er done, but 4-inch ramps would clearly have made it easier.) You could probably get the job done with a floor jack, but I'd suggest using jack stands or some solid wood blocking under a suitable support point for safety while removing and re-installing the drain plug.
@@johnholz394 I have a Jack and stands, but seems ramps are easier to use?
Lot a help. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!
Surprised no one has commented on the beautiful SkyDweller 😉 great vid, will be using on my 2017 base this weekend.
Thank you Joel! Love this watch, took it off shortly after starting the video. Good luck with your oil change.
Great video. Just followed it to the letter on my 2018 991.2 c2CAB
You can buy the factory drain plug tool for $18 from Snap On or even less from Amazon. VW T10549
informative video and nice watch :)
Great video Alex. Thanks for sharing and good job doing it one handed! Any more videos of your DIY's would be appreciated.
Excellent. Very informative in it’s simplicity. Thanks 👍🏼
I think 997.2 is much easier.
What do you do for a living Alex? We know it isn't Porsche mechanic
I hope they come out with replacement aluminum oil pan soon, can't believe they went plastic
Hi Alex, thanks for sharing! I changed the oil and replaced the filters (air and oil) but the spoiler is not actuating now. Any thoughts?
Have you checked the fuse? Also make sure you didn't leave any rags or tools that could be jammed in the mechanism.
@@alexc7591 Thanks for the response, I found that ECU needs to be rebooted and problem is fixed!!!!
Yes, Go buy a new 992 Turbo S :)
Thanks for a straight forward, no stupid music, or showboating. Thanks again.
Great video! Thanks for the instructions. I plan on changing the oil in my T today and will follow this procedure.
Awesome. Great video.
Great video! Did you say you ordered parts from the P-dealership? Yikes. I've saved a lot ordering the exact same OE Mahle or Mann from Amazon. You should consider using a fluid evacuator. Sucking the oil out through the fill port is revolutionary with zero mess or getting under the car. Do you have a single daughter? I can send my resume to join the family. LOL.
I find it funny that people complain about fram oil filters having cardboard end caps on them and a $100k+ German high performance car has it on theirs. Bunch of office chair experts.
Good video. BTW- You made me cringe when you removed the engine oil filter cap, you used a torque wrench. I was taught during my aviation maintenance training days that you should never 'break torque" with a torque wrench. Doing so can put a torque wrench out of calibration. You should have used a breaker bar or a ratchet. Then use the torque wrench to tighten the oil filter cap to the recommended torque when installing the cap.
18-25 ft lbs in reverse wont hurt any 3/8 or 1/2" drive torque wrench. It just won't. But not a bad rule to try and maintain.
Appreciate the video. Not many DIY for this particular year. You just got yourself a new subscriber 👍👍
Good job, I have the new 992 and I think I will take it to the dealer, to scared to touch lol 😂.
Yeah better off, all of that delicate parts and just let the professionals handle it
can you disable the spoiler if you wish?
Nice video. Do I need to reset the oil change reminder?
If it was one of the scheduled maintenance intervals, I would suggest to reset it. I normally do an intermediate oil change between "official oil changes" and I don't reset the reminder at that time.
@@alexc7591 does resetting the reminder require a special tool or can it be done by the owner?
Just finished OIL CHANGE. Just as advertised. Step by steps are GREAT.' No hiccups. Mine took 9 quarts with about 0.5--0.75 of a quarts STILL SHORT that probably would reach the MAX level. Thanks for my STIMULUS CHECK!
good post, thanks. Just one thing on the oil volume thing; my owners manual states to check the oil with the engine at operating temperature but shut off for at least one minute. Did I hear your engine running when you were checking the level? Oil 'in the system and not in the pan may account for the reported low volume.
Good point!
The question is, how long did u let the oil drain. That's the real question. Thanks. Just so I can know how busy work is gonna be when ppl in my area follow the how to. Which is WRONG. No 100% wrong but you missed very very important step. Meaby the most important one thx cheers
I let the oil drain for well over an hour. And from the amount of oil it took to re-fill it, I would say it was more than enough time, and definitely more time than what your average dealer would wait for it to drain. By the way, you can see at 9:30 that not a single drop of oil is dripping from the oil pan, so I would say it drained long enough... Would mind enlightening us on what is the most important step that I missed?
The first thing I would be doing is removing that Rolex 😀
I love your music :)
I'm surprised you didn't do the air filters when you did the oil change. I know it is more of a pain, but you was already half way there. At any rate, it was a great video and I always enjoy watching technical videos. This one was very informative with torque specs and all.
Thank you Jason! I didn't do the filters as they were basically new. If I recall correctly, the car had only 3,000 miles so the filters would have been overkill. Also, to remove the rear bumper to do the filter change I would've needed my assistant (aka son), who was off to college... hahaha.
Thanks!
Alex, Thanks for the great STEP by STEP video. Looks no more complicated than an OIL CHANGE for my G36 Bonanza. Will be giving it a try.
Is there a PORSCHE recommended TORQUE for the OIL PLUG re-install?
There is really not much torque. You will feel it when it locks into place.
@@alexc7591 Thanks Alex...will give you/thread feedback when I complete.
What looked like a plastic oil pan bummed me out. I imagine as it ages, it will be more prone to cracking when its hit by road debris.
VW Golf has the same plastic type drain pan with the exact same plastic drain plug. Works ok so far; fingers crossed.
Yeah, that's not all that they made plastic, plastic coolant pump too. kind of cracks me up when you see the price tag
Remember, Glocks are plastic, and they work just as well if not better than most other handgun designs. There is certainly no problem with durability of modern polymers when they are engineered properly.
Thanks! Cheers!
