Southern food is just another name for Soul food. Enslaved Black Americans cultivated that style of "Southern/Soul" food in the south over centuries. It was enslaved Black Americans cooking and cultivating those Southern/Soul dishes on plantations in the South for hundreds of years.

That was a real nice video about Boston dishes, but most people can't afford to spend $25 for a Lobster Roll and $35 for a whole belly Clam roll. In the 1950's, 60's and 70's, seafood was downright cheap and the poorest of families could enjoy fried haddock, fried clams and scallops a couple or 3 times a week. Every Saturday I would go to the fish pier and buy two 3 lb. LOBSTERS for under $12. Now the whole world wants New England seafood and the prices are driven so high that the average guy can't afford them.

In Detroit, waffles are breakfast food. And fried chicken is not.
