    Great project! A better grade of snowblower is only recommendation. Yours seemed to always leave a small berm which renders not a clean sweep!

      Thanks for the comment. That may be my fault. The bottom of the blower was completely gone. I rebuilt it and in hindsight I may have extended the bottom plate too much. It does show up if snow is light, or end of a drift. Oh well, works a hell of a lot better than my old tractor mounted!

    That turned out just awesome. Takes a sharp guy to engineer all the fabrication to make everything work.....pivot points so the belt tension is correct when raising the blower among many other things. Would really like to see it in deep snow. Would you do anything different on a do over?

    • @hrodd2
      @hrodd2 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you. Well this year it has only been used once as we have had an extremely mild winter. I did run it thru some deeper snow last year, after the video, however did not get ample footage to do a follow up video. Things to change? Initially the combine had a 4 valve electric hydraulic body, which I abandoned after I realized it was leaking and unreliable. I replaced with a 3 valve electric solenoid operated. I should have went with a 4 valve, as I could have retained the hydraulic adjustable pulley that ran the header. I replaced that with a simpler set pulley size from a different combine. So, if I would have retained that I could have varied the auger speed on the go, like I can with the fan, using the separator clutch. Ah, future improvements, I have picked up a mud drive rear wheel assembly. Not sure when I will get that attached. Will do a follow up vid when it is accomplished. Thanks for the comment.

    Did you consider running the blower off of a hydraulic motor instead of belt drive? Seems like an alternative to reduce total metal fab could also have added an aux pump for high cfm. Could also then go to a quicktach and been able to use skid steer implements...hmm...maybe I'll have to look for an old gleaner to play around with...

    • @hrodd2
      @hrodd2 Год назад

      I did consider going with orbit drive. However it would have been more costly. I would have needed a pump on the unit and the orbit motor on the blower. ALso, there is loss of efficiency with hydraulic drives. So, I decided to stay with mechanical. Thanks for the comment

    Great build but you might consider adding extensions on the left and right side of the snow blower. It looks like you might want to change the position of the lower auger, seems like it needs to be moved forward. The blower is doing a lot of "pushing" of snow before getting pulled into it. I might be wrong. Cheers :)
