Growing up. Men always removed their hat when indoors. When did it become acceptable to wear a hat INSIDE a sanctuary 🤔
If Seattle seems spiritually chilly, it’s not for lack of trying. Mars Hill Church was an evangelical church started in Seattle in the mid 90s, which rapidly grew from a small gathering in a living room to a massive megachurch with 15 locations and over 12,000 members. Their straight-edge, counterculture energy and innovative approach to ministry was uniquely tailored to the people and culture of Seattle which helped fuel their explosive growth. Yet in 2014 after years of internal controversies and corruption, Mars Hill shut down after the resignation of their pastor, and the church branches were spun off and disbanded. It was greatly damaging to the spiritual community in Seattle, and the legacy of those scars remain, even ten years later.
