@@DadCanFixAnything I think we were doing about 40-50 mph, so they were likely only doing around 20. But my memory isn't always perfect, so it might have been slightly different speeds.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Ya, convenient memory. 🤣🤣🤣
❤ I support Asher's playlist! What an awesome place! Every kid should have such awesome opportunities to enjoy nature and learn respect for it and confidence in themselves. Well done to both of you!
@@DadCanFixAnything Thank you for the kind words! We appreciate the support.
My buddy got this one recently and I was very suprised. It's quite loud! I have a Sena30K and it has volume issues from the very beginning. It doesn't connect to the Utility App though it connects to the other Sena App quite well. Volume is way too low. Have done everything to make it sound better but nothing helped. And worst part is that nowadays, It has developed another problem. Caller can't hear me though I can hear the caller very well. I am fed up with the Sena. I have a quick question. When you guys are both connected to each other via intercom, are you also connected with your respective phones for Music/Navigation?
@@dipuBarua I'll try to get Cody to respond on this, as he regularly listens to music on rides. I can say that this model temporarily cuts the intercom when I receive a phone call (it automatically answers incoming calls after 2nd ring) and then goes back to the intercom after the call ends. I know there are other more expensive model coms that can share music and/or navigation, but I haven't tried them. This model is very basic, but works pretty well if there are only 2 riders.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Sena does the same as well
@dipuBarua so I can't answer that one 100% but I can say that I think you can switch back and forth between rider coms and phone accessories. Hope this answers your questions. But again I'm not sure I haven't tried that yet.
Glad it worked pastthe steel belt!
@@devonolsen1331 It took a bit of effort, but was actually easier than I expected.

When you say, only two people can talk at a time does that mean only two people can connect at a time or you can connect multiple headsets but only two can talk two at a time?
@@MathewsGuitarWorks up to 6 devices in total can be linked. Only 2 of them can communicate at the same time.
@@MathewsGuitarWorks It works very well for the price. We brought 3. My kids share 1 for when I ride with them, Cody has 1, and I have 1. It's been good for teaching the kids (video of my youngest loosing the training wheels comes out this week), and for Cody and I communicating on rides. I would like a pricier set that can communicate with more people at once, but still don't regret this purchase. I would just say to evaluate whether you think you need to communicate with multiple people at once. If not, this is likely the best bang per buck.
what kinda times you getting on battery life?
@jonhill329 When just using coms, we've had no problem getting 10 hour (or more) rides on a charge so far. Cody uses his for music as well, but I don't know if his has ever died on a ride. I'll ask him to chime in here.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures interesting, thats pretty decent actually. thanks for the info boss. :)
@@jonhill329 No problem. I'll likely upgrade eventually to get a set that can communicate with several others at the same time, but this set has been great for the price.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures I have the sena and cardo packtalk, was checking the compatibility with this unit, hint, there is none. lol, but yes, for the price, this little comm unit does very well. last couple of days I used it all day with little issue, and good range and battery life wasn't a problem. Hard to beat it for 20 bucks.
@@jonhill329 Great to know. Thank you for following up with your findings. I'm wondering if their Q series comms are compatible with the name brand units, as they are fairly feature packed at a fraction of the price.

@@MotoMission. Thank you. We definitely had fun.
Hi there, what kind fuel range you guys get when off Roading on those bikes. Thanks, great video by theway.!
@ero7238 Thank you for the support and the question. I usually plan about 200 miles +/- about 50, depending on terain and how spirited I get with the throttle. On this ride, we cut it close and actually received an extra 1.25 gallons per bike from a very generous guy in a side x side on the other side of the mountain. We may or may not have made it all the way out without his donation. It definitely would have been close. Helpful folk is another thing we're not short of here in Wyoming. We'll definitely bring spare fuel the next time.
@ero7238 I should add that altitude plays a key role in calculating range. We likely get about 25%-35% (or less sometimes) than we could get if we rode at sea level. These bikes 'should' be capable of around 300 miles in 'ideal conditions'. Of course, we prefer less than ideal conditions. Lol
What he is trying to tell you on road it's about 250 miles for a tank. Off road we are looking around 150 or so for a tank depending on riding conditions and how we want to ride.
Did anyone else notice that first water crossing at 13:23 looks like it's only 1-2" deep until the bikes go into it and drop almost a foot?
@DadCanFixAnything It was. It looks just as deceiving in person, too. Lol

There are enduro pants that go over the boots, I use them for sand, brush, and critters, but they will keep water at bay as well.
@TheWhippetmaster the sad thing is that I had a pair of pullover pants in my bag and I just wasn't smart (or motivated) enough to pull them out and put them on before doing the water crossing. Fortunately, I was wearing wool socks and brought a couple extra pairs.

What brand of lights are you using and where did you purhcase? I have a t660 also. Have you experienced the blinking fuel gauge dash indicator issue on your bikes? I have had the part on order for 60+ days and had my local dealer order the part for me after filming it so they could order the part and open the warranty ticket with Aprila, so if it's not in before my warranty expires in Octobe,r it will still be covered. Telling you this just as an FYI for you and other owners. The sender unit is actually made by KTM.
Great information to watch for. Thank you for sharing! We haven't had any real issues with our bikes (yet). Is yours a 2022 model? Our lights were bought from some random Chinese seller on Alibaba (was on a tight budget when we bought them), but I'll try to find and share a link in the description to some that I think are the same. Ours measured around 4 Ohms each if I remember correctly.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, my bike?is a 2022. There is a factory service bulletin from Apilia about the sender unit and an updated replacement part for that was originally installed.
@@richardsieben815 Thank you for the information! Both of ours are 2023 models. Hopefully, they worked the bugs out the first year. If not, I'm sure will find them eventually too.
I'd also love to see a review of whatever smartphone mount you have. I'd imagine that'd have to be pretty good for Wyoming off-roading.
Good suggestion! We both have tablet mounts for GPS maps. We made an install video, but not a review. We like `em. Cody has a smart phone mount, but I dont yet. We'll try to get a review on his soon. We have a crazy ride planned this weekend, so maybe we'll record that to if I remember.

Not really, but only because I don't really use the buttons when riding. They are definitely too small to use with gloves IMHO. But, once connected, there's no reason to mess with buttons. It answers calls automatically on second ring and goes back to comms after the call.

❤ Nice! ❤ How much 💰 did this project cost all together?
I had some supplies on hand, but even had we bought everything, I believe we would have easily completed both bikes for less than $100. I think our actual expenses were less than $40 each. Sure beats paying well over $300 for OEM or other options.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures For sure! I looked it up and if I'm not mistaken, it looked like it was over $300 just for the OEM harness, ...and around $300 more for the lights, so over $600!?
Thank you for always sharing things to help. How long does it actually take to set up?
Thank you for watching. Excellent Question! This tent 'could' actually be set up in under a minute if you rush. That's including the time to take it out of the bag, and depending on how easy it is to drive the stakes into the ground. I was able to push the stakes in by hand at this location, so it was pretty fast. It can also break down and be put away almost as quickly.
Nice info, can you listen music togheter that you paired
Great question. You can listen to music or take calls while paired to another rider, but you can't share the music (or call). There are several newer headsets that can share music and communicate with more than one rider at a time, but none are anywhere near as affordable as these.
Thanks for the video. I wonder if there is a sissy bar / rear support that I can get for this bike, as my wife on the back likes to have support.
Thank you for watching, and for the comment. I believe one of the other brands of tail racks has bars that protrude a lot. Someone also makes rear crash bars that would make good grab bars on the sides of the seat.
This was great for me to watch. I am test riding a Tuareg tomorrow. I was originally thinking about buying something smaller, but I live about 1 1/2 hours away from trails minimum in Maine, so an adv bike would be nice at it would not require a trailer or backtracking to where I started from on the trail. Seeing you guys mess around makes me think I would not be giving up too much on the trails on a Tuareg vs. a honda CRF 300L or something like that. I love the idea of having plenty of room for camping gear and a great looking bike (compared to dual sports, at least to my eye). I am inspired. I trust are happy with your bikes vs dual sports.
So far we are loving them. We switched from having smaller dual sports (check out some of our other videos), but wanted a unicorn bike that could do it all. Unicorns are a myth but the Tuareg comes pretty close. We don't have any dealers in Wyoming, so we over protected to bolster reliability. Lol.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Thanks. I would have a dealer about 2 hours away, which isn't bad for living in Maine. On my list of things to find out on my test ride today is to get a sense how good their service department is. I will take a look at the older videos of your dual sports. Thanks, again. You guys are using this platform the way it should be used; to help people with similar interests.
@@Declan4253How'd the test ride go?
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Well...they sold the bike that they allowed test rides on so no test ride. However, a week later a bought it anyway. I love it. I just did my first 600 mile service yesterday. I have the Camel Adv bash plate and other goodies on it. I think it looks great (the Dakar Podium color) and it is really fun. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@Declan4253 Nice. Glad to help, and glad you're enjoying the bike!
Just got the Tuareg a week ago. This rack will be here in a couple of days. Thx for the video. Any reason why you didn't go with the Outback Motortrek skid plate vs the Camel one you installed? Thx again, new subscriber here. Cheers, Raymond
Congrats on the new bike!. I loved the look of the matching Outback skid, but my research showed that the Camel skid plate gave better overall protection (check out their test video). It's wide enough to cover the lower motor and most of the foot levers in a drop and the added slip liner covers the dog bones.
...Btw, some of the other mods are slightly easier before installing the crash bars, like fog/driving lights. We'll post a video on that eventually.
View count seems to be growing, looks like it was a fun day!
Thank you! It was definitely a fun ride.
Looks like a lot of fun!
Yes, it was!
Ya the T-Rex skid plate is muuuuuuch better..
I don't know about better, but it's definitely more convenient for oil changes. I'd have to see somebody hit that one with a sledge hammer, while it's on their bike to be convinced that it's better. I also don't like the fact that the T Rex requires the additional lower crash bars to get as much coverage as the Camel skip plate gives alone.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures The T-Rex plate is completely isolated from the oil pan.. No bolts or brackets attachment to the pan. Also covers the rear linkage for the swing arm.. Makes access to the oil filter a breeze..
@spencervidal3168 I'm sure it's a pretty good skid plate. I've used T-Rex products on other bikes. I definitely like the access panel for oil changes. However, it still doesn't cover as much without the addition of their ower crash bars, and they didn't have any evidence of impact testing. I also understand most of us want to believe that we made the best choice, And that what I find best for my use, may not be the best for others. I almost purchased the T-Rex plate, but after more research, I decided on the Camel. If you have the T-Rex, maybe you can come hit some trails with us sometime for a real world side by side comparison test. I can't think of a funner way to settle this debate. 🏍
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Fair enough, so when are you two going to start wearing protection?? Your going to crash, and your bikes going to be fine but you two, weekend warriors are going to be all busted up,

I’m always a little wary of skid plates with no rubber damping. Maybe I’m overthinking it?
Interesting perspective. Does someone make a rubber mounted skid plate for the Tuareg? I'm not sure that I would trust rubber mounts to be strong enough for some of the trails we ride with this heavy of a bike. I do believe the sub-mount on this one is sufficient for dampening. Cory at Camel ADV tested it by hitting it several times with a large sledgehammer, ...while it was mounted on the bike. I couldn't find any other skid plate manufacturers that even showed evidence of any testing. I'm definitely open to see something better, but I tried and couldn't find anything better as far as protection goes.
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures Heed skid plates have rubber mounts. I guess if something takes the force it’s better than nothing 🍻
@daveo9844 I had to go back and look at the Heed. Plate again, because it has been since last year. I definitely agree that the Heed plate is very good option. We passed on it because it doesn't give the same protection as the Camel ADV plate, without buying the additional lower crash bars. The Heed plate also lacks the heat shield around the cat.
Nice discussion. This really highlights what Wyoming Family Adventures said about this being the `best for their use`, and others might find something better for their own use. I like that both the video and Dave mention other good options and agree with both that there's not always a one size fits all solution for everything.
