Cannes 1939 : "Un jour de bonheur"
In 1939, the city of Cannes was chosen to host the very first international film festival organized by France.
To represent the country in the competition, three films were selected, including 'L'Enfer des anges'.
On September 1st, Germany invaded Poland, and the festival, which was set to open that same day, was postponed and then canceled due to France's entry into the war on September 3rd.

That is what I'm looking for, I even backed up and read the transcript, sounds like they all watched a particular film at possibly his home... Strange, reminds me of games that I vowed not to play back in high school, but recently I noticed people don't listen, so I started playing a game of telling a story and leaving out a key component so it doesn't contain enough information to make sense and people nod, smile, and give body language as if they understood the story....... Maybe it is this scrolling habit, making people impatient and conditioned to nonsense.

@bardmadsen6956 thankyou, there is a comment on here describing what they are talking about, quite well i thought, but i saw it after i posted.. and i like the chance to exchange words with someone here 🙂 ..people not listening, i look after my mother and she said once, '..oh sorry, i didn't hear, ah it was only you..' errr... ? ! i'm with you, definitely, but there can be reasons for not hearing/listening so well.. i, for example, have horrible noise in my ears all the time (chronic pulsating tinnitus) and i do have to guess or fill in sometimes, rather than be a pain, or appear stupid etc etc.. quite practiced at it lol also sometimes people speak badly, lazily, unclearly, being distracted, noise etc etc.. and phones can make it tricky too (lots of guess work, filling in, and trying to deduce..) and it becomes second nature, you know all this i'm sure, i can be terrible at rambling on, sorry. oo.. sometimes i hear a word, but my brain takes it as something else.. ? like, for example someone referred to 'black pudding' i heard it, but registered it as haggis.. one i can eat, the other i can't.. if you've made it this far, your gold star is in the post 🙂 x

@@davidevans3227 Well, I couldn't understand anything the reporter was asking. Yeah, I know what it is like just from some people I talk to on the phone with ADH or something like that and they are washing dishes or shuffling through papers on a desk, constantly, and I have to guess words to figure out what they are rambling about. I had a thought long ago, that I bet comedians turn the TV down so they can barely hear it and guess words to come up with jokes. No big deal, I'm more of a Buster Keaton fan, anyways.

Charlie Chaplin would have turned *80* in the year of this interview ; it is hard to believe that both Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy had already passed away at this point ! At the beginning of the interview, Chaplin was talking about something (I'm assuming one of his films 🎥) ...possibly "The Circus" ... released in 1928 !? The Circus was one of the movies that also starred (Chaplin's publicist) *Harry* *Crocker*

Incredible that an uneducated man from an impoverished background, raised by a single mother in South London bedsits, became the most famous man on earth bringing laughter to millions during depressing times. His social skills were extraordinary, he could dine with Presidents and Royalty and befriended legends outside of his own field, like Churchill, Einstein, Dali, Gandhi and Randolph Hearst. There will never be another like him.

This Jew's ingenious reference to the worthless leaders and forced coincidental heroes of the 20th century!!!, when a flag fell from the workers' box and was waved towards the truck, was carried on the shoulders of the workers coming from behind, always impressed me. He was a very intelligent Jew who was very fond of sex.
