My favourite horse at the time and still remember watching every race he was in 😁
He wasn't big but he was built like a bull with the heart to match. I'm just glad we got to see as much of him as we did before his forced retirement.
Lovely horse shame he got I injured in Australia ..he could have been anything
SORRY TO IMPOSE RA
Yorkey ..............your were one of the best, when I was growing up in Brisbane. I remember, if my memory serves me correct, you winning on a good racemare for Bruce Mclachlan, called Pottinger............You, Shane Scriven, Mick Pelling and Jimmy Byrne were all class mate !!!!!.......ps I'd like to know where Pottinger ended up, she was along, with Buck's Pride, my fav Brisbane horses !!!!!!!
Brian you rode St Jude. He was a magnificent racehorse, winning over a wide range of distances
Great vid Brian
Another race this magnificent horse won is the showday cup, the Rupert Clarke stakes as it's known today.
How underrated was Ravarda ? He won what called the Castlemaine as 2 yr old. He was Group one placed on at 3 occasions. I think in the George Ryder & Doncaster
Great sprinter !! He had plenty on that field, and it wasn't a bad field !! Rode him a Peach Brian
In the spring of 1995, Our Maizcay won 6 straight all in group races against the best sprinter/milers around, what a wonderful horse. After this win in a very classy Guineas Field they took a throw at the stumps and went up to the 2040m of the Cox Plate against Octagonal, Mahogany, Juene, Danewin etc., unfortunately Our Maizcay wasn't a strong 2000m horse, thanks for the upload.
We have one of Our Maizcay’s/Pan Dancer’s foals, (Our Dancer) he’s 12 now. He is also an ex racehorse rescue, and he the most perfect natured horse you could ever wish for.
Bloody outstanding! Well done Brian York.. You and Greg Childs were my favourite jockeys to back.. Would love to. See any other jockeys room or racing pics in the future.. Cheers 🥂 👌
What a super racehorse and jockey! What a career Brian York had! Wonderful hands.
He destroyed a grand Caulfield guineas line up, one of the best in history. He deserves the recognition
Totally agree
I really think Our Maizcay was a champion. Not like Octagonal or Saintly but up to and including the mile he was a real champion who could have definitely won overseas. Unfortunately the Cox Plate killed him and he never recovered from that race. He should never have been there in the first place.
Exactly. they should Kept him at 1400 & 1600 metre races
Yes, totally agree. Our Maizcay was a champion. Not sure we can say the same for the connections. Why you would run him in a Cox Plate defied logic at the time because he was a high quality sprinter. And he was flogged as a two-year-old. Before the Golden Slipper, pretty sure he had six starts.
Interesting never seen this race before some of these horses raced in Aus A BIT LEICA sounds familiar
Thanks for posting pictures capturing the essence and glory of racing through the jockeys perspective
this brings back fond memories for me..
One of our best sprinter/milers.
EJay Rakena I agree this video makes me proud to own one of his foals
it was a great day for me back then.thank you..
Nothing to look at but gee he had a motor, Richie McCaw like.
Loved that boy!
AMaizing...lol
