How do you start a strain where you you buy
I sometimes go to trusted outside sources but many by crossing strains I already have in my room
Hey Dave from Ludington here . I purchased a pair of Moscow greens from a breeder by the name of Jen on ebay. Interesting fish, very shiny but very light green and smaller than your fish. I was going to purchase some of her purple Moscows but she said that it would not be wise to cross with your greens in the future because I would have a hard time getting the dark pigments out with such a cross. Is that true?
That’s interesting, I’ve never heard of that problem before.
Where are you. Send to Canada
Not sure if you got my message ? I have had a eye procedure, and difficult to text all blurry!
Hi Tim this Doug, The true admirer! I'm sorry been under the weather for the last few day's but noticed your replies, l hpe you recieve this or I' ll try your web? Thanks again Doug.the newguy.
Thanks! Can you make a follow up for the females?
Already have the video on my channel

I have 2 questions. Why are my (Black Moscow) fry batches so small? And why would a tank of males and female (Purple Mosaic) not have fry? Thank You Brenda
I have a few videos that should help you increase your size on any line but lack of size and fertility issues are signs of severe inbreeding. I hope this helps although it might not be what you wanted to hear.
Was that a pleco in your American Blues tank?
I use bristlenose plecos and all of my tanks
sage advice! I love your Moscows!
Thank you.
Love this, thank you so much for your content!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the educational information !!!!
You are very welcome!
I had that happen to me. Very sad. I had what I thought would be very cool-- the Watermelon Guppy. White body, pink caudal, green dorsal. It was awesome. I could never create another one. :(
Good tips, true insights when I created the FullRed it was rare at the time but never got rich from it. Enjoy the hobby! instead.
The hobby is all about the passion, not the profit!

I will keep 4 strain with16 10galls but l also have a indoor fish pond l build and mix all my culls in pond beutiful while still maintaing breed , after 4 ,5, generations l will purchase similar fish to breed back to limes . Takes sometime but usually get the looking almost the same ? Not in it for profit but enjoyment.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights! We really do need the level of seriousness you’re bringing to this side of the hobby :)
You are very welcome. I’m always happy to help fellow breeders.
Excellent
we are new members of IFGA, interested to know what type of jars you use to ship them in.
Do you have any knowledge or experience (yours or from other breeders) regarding the impact of temperature on growth? Unfortunately, I don’t remember the source of this information, but I came across a theory that keeping fish at the lower end of their preferred temperature range results in slower growth but ultimately produces larger adult fish.
Ultimately the higher the temperature they are raised in the faster they will grow, but you are also shortening their lifespan. Growing in cooler temps will lengthen their lifespan and you might see a small increase in size but if you are feeding the fish enough in higher temperatures the end result will be minimum difference in size. I have raised fish on both higher end temps and lower end temps but I have never done a scientific experiment where I take fish from each drop and let all other conditions be the same except their water temperature in order to prove my theory but in general when I have raised fish in both warmer and cooler water and this is what ive noticed.
best of luck!
Thank you
Looks like a lot of winners to me, best of luck!
That turned out to be the case!
That cool keep it up
Pretty awesome 😎
Thanks!
good luck
Thank you😊
Blessings on a wonderful show! I cant wzit to get some of your black greens an purples.
Good luck, pal!
WOW those are some awesome fish.
I think so too!
Great information! What are your thoughts on Grindal worms? Are they as nutritious as BBS?
I'm not sure but I think you could find nutritional value online for both types of food. The big thing is your percentage of protein.
Thanks 🤔
Enjoyed this longer form video! I’ll have to start implementing some of this in my own tanks!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m happy for you to use what you have learned to improve your breeding.
Good Work Tim
Thanks 👍
Wonderful video! Really got a lot out of this as a new show guppy breeder. Looking forward to more of your knowledge. I know I am overstocked, but I’m limited to 7 10 gallon tanks and 16 5 gallon tanks. Currently I have full greens, American greens, American purples and purple/green moscows, so I’m thinking I need to limit it to 2, maybe 3 strains… but what do I eliminate? Also, what are your thoughts on bloodworms for guppies? Thanks again!
I do have the same problem. I am currently considering to combine my purple/green moscows into 1 strain (2lines) and perhaps select a few of each color when selecting for breeders. That will bring your fish to three strains, full green, american purple/green and moscow purple/green. Something like this ruclips.net/user/shortsQZu7w7XTG90
You need a minimum of 7 tanks per strain. Perhaps this is the topic for my next video. Bloodworms are ok.
@@leeguppyId breed for Purple Moscow's as the Green Moscow is pretty dominant and will always be produced.
@@Qualityguppies Please do ! and thank you for the tip
@@Qualityguppies Yes please! I’d love to understand the best practice for maintaining a strain and how to utilize those tanks. I have read over and over that you need 6-10 tanks, but I struggle to truly understand how those tanks get used ideally. Would love your insight on that. :-)

I can't say I've ever had any issues with blood worms bringing in disease but they definitely are not nearly as nutritious as live food or baby brain shrimp.
great video, love the longer form explanations. it is my first time line breeding guppys (wild red koi glass belly) and will be having babies this wk sometime so will probably move the females into breeder box in the next couple of days but i want to minimise the time they are in there.
Will keeping a few females in a net breeder box sufficient for a tank of young males? Would the males still react to them or just give up in frustration?
A good breeder box should keep the females from getting hit, but the hormones of the females will still be reduced and can reduce size. Also your females won't have much room to grow in a breeder box reducing the size of not only her but her offspring.
You give a lot of good information keep on doing what you do you will get there
Buenas amigo saludos que medidas tienen los acuarios
can barely hear you above the filter/pumps/water racket. literally impossible to understand.... :(
