I use a 12 guage pump
Great video . Great that your child came along to experience the outdoors too . I have experience with .22 LR, 22 WMR , 17 HMR . I’ve used a 20 gauge , Full choke , # 5 shot . There is no ( best ) ! It’s personal preference, that’s all. Shot placement will negate any cripples . Sadly , it’s part of hunting . Enjoyed your video , thank you for sharing with others .
How much less effort can we change the hunting experience to be?
what state is this in
You didn't say the brand of 22lr you were using, it might be the ammo. I recommend CCI 22LR HP or Winchester Hyper Velocity 40 gr HP. Both will put them down instantly. CCI Stingers also do very well. Those are my top 3 choices. Try them...
17hmr>22mag
Take your time and clean the barrel and DO NOT DRY FIRE!!!
Great video!! Thanks for sharing. A buddy and I hunted a walnut orchard for the owner, we got paid to hunt squirrels, the owner paid us 10cents per tail. My buddy used a Sheridan 5 mm scoped silver streak. I used a old Crosman 140 scoped with a 4 power bushnell same as my buddys. We sure did have a good time, and brought home a lot of meat. Grandma cook them up with onions, garlic and cambells cream of mushroom soup over rice or noodles. Good times as a kid in the country!!
Can you give me a recipe please❤
. 22 Break barrel does the job ...
At least your rattling was realistic. Most people bang the horns like they’re mixin f’n macaroni. Non stop bangin for a minute straight. 🙄
I have also noticed that. Thanks for watching!
Your fox squirrels are very big, good jobs
Loving it!!
Good shooting 👍
DANG !!! - cheap ammo & a stock 10/22.....you need to make some videos with that bc these comp. 22LR longrange guys might $h?t when they see how & what your shooting with....lol.....Thanks fer sharing.
Use .22 lr hollow points for body shots.
.22lr is a challenge to get 1 shot. For the .22WMR, 1 shot is all you need. Packs a punch 👊 💪🏽. I use a Savage 93R17hmr.
CCI Stingers are the way to go for squirrels using a .22lr.
I’ve used a scope and used irons on the 10/22 for squirrels. I think the irons are better because of lower height over bore. When you’re shooting squirrels, you’re aiming so small, I’d rather leave the yardages out of the shot and just use the irons. Interested in anyone’s thoughts on the matter.
I'm about to go on my first squirrel hunt with a scoped 10/22 takedown. Sighting in at the range tomorrow and hunting this coming weekend. I'll report my findings. My setup is 10/22 takedown with backpacker stock, Vortex 2-7x35 rimfire scope, receiver mounted with an EGW picatinny base and Burris PEPR QD cantilever mount. Haven't decided on ammo yet but I'm leaning towards trying to sight in and hunt with the cheapest 22lr ammo in my stash. Remington thunderbolt. I just wanna see how well I can do with dirt cheap plinking ammo.
🤦 【promosm】
I am 34 and just am taking an interest in hunting. Starting with small game to slowly ease myself into it. I find it hard to kill animals as death is no laughing matter, but on the other end id be respectful and thankful for what it would provide for my family and I.
Is that all you can do is gut shoot 'em? Someone needs to slap you and take away your rifle, 'cause you don't deserve it!
Ruger 10/22 lr, is a piece of junk I pay anyone $100 to take mine or I'll toss it in the junk.......
You can pay me $100 to take it. 😂😂
That second doe was huge! Nice shots!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Happy you both had success on the new property!
Thanks! We appreciate that.
What scope do you use?
The scope on the .22lr is a Hawke. Scope on the .22 mag is Vortex.
Nice! What a big old doe. Lots of good eating there. I shot the biggest doe I’ve ever shot last Saturday morning. And I’ve been at it for 30+ years with a bow. Congratulations
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching
Just my opinion... each rifle has its place. 22 LR for smaller game, and the 22 mag for the bigger critters.
Tactacam does not give a clear view at the target.
Nice job….but, 300 WBY? Great out west cartridge but a bit much in the farmland.
It usually anchors them quickly that’s for sure. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!
I've got the 10-22..with the Lazer sight. At the end of the fore stock..Works really good from the hip..squirrels..rabbits..rats.etc..Sight in the scope..Then sight the Lazer to the scope at 30yards...
you really got the best camera angles going of all Bowhunting youtube! really like it, thanks
Thank you! We appreciate you watching!
Good video.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Yea, hearing your bow squeak, must have make the cringe factor go through the roof. 😖😬 Congratulations on holding it together & for your success!
Yup! I was like what??! The felt had worn just enough that it did that for the first time that cold wet morning.
Your 22lr has a lot to do with the type bullet you have been using. Check out CumberlandOutdoors channel. He does alot of good test on a extensive scale and at reasonable hunting distances. Good shooting, you have a great piece of squirrel property there.
I agree. The round definitely makes a difference. Thanks for watching!
Can you hunt below the rifle line for deer and use a .22 for small game???
Not 100% sure. But I think so. I live north of the rifle line so it never has been an issue for me.
Did you hit lungs after all? Looked like liver/stomach from this angle.
You are correct. Just behind the lungs. Sliced the liver in two. After I got down and reviewed the footage I realized it was a little further back. That's why after we found what we thought was her bed we backed out. Turns out she was dead in the first hour, only went about 80yds, but it never hurts to be careful. Thanks for watching.
@@SplitBrowProductions nice job. Liver hits are lethal when you do the right thing. Well done and great harvest! Good luck this season.
Thanks you too!
What broadhead you using?
G5 Deadmeat
@@SplitBrowProductions thanks for the reply. Have you ever heard of Simmons sharks? Not saying that head didn’t do ok or anything, but I shot a nice buck a couple years ago at about the same spot and it never made it 20yards. Kinda looked like that mechanical didn’t open or something. Should have been liver lung hit. I am not affiliated with Simmons in any way, I just love their heads. I’ve taken 47 deer with them. Took 17 with the same head before it hit a rock and bent. Anywho, loved the video. It was a good shot, i thought she should have went down faster. God bless and happy hunting.
The head worked as it should. I was behind the lungs and cut the liver in two. She went 80 and was dead in the first hour. I will look into those broadhead though! Thanks for the suggestion.
@@SplitBrowProductions they are amazing heads in my opinion. 100% USA made and made by a Christian based company.
Nice footage of peppy la pew, nice footage, and great hunt.
I saw him on the walk out in the dark. Had to turn around and back track 50 yards or so and take a different trail.
Meat in the freezer. Great job
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
We love it! Awesome footage! Congrats, Keep it going!
Thank you!
i might try the 22mag ive been using the 17hmr and man it just dose to much damage you have to hit headshots with it
.22mag is my preference. Good luck out there!!
Do you do any coyote hunting
No we don't do a lot of coyote hunting.
Awesome footage
Thank you!
I love it. 17 HMR is even better than the 22mag for squirrel in my opinion.
@@danholtbk7008 only if its real windy, i killed coons, yotes, at 100 + yrds with 17 and the savage bull barrel it right on the $ , unless shooting head shot wouldn't use 17 for game food
Well done, really enjoy your hunts!
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching!
If it wasn't the difference between an additional 50¢ per round I'd go wmr all day!
Only reason I want a saddle is so I can hit any tree pretty much. I have a climber stand, it's light and easy to use but it's such a pain in the ass finding a good tree for it.
It definitely is a game changer in that aspect. The tree I shot this deer from had a lot of limbs so a climber would have been a no go. If you have more questions about saddles reach out and we can chat. Thanks for watching!
Nice job dude.
Thanks!!
Nice buck congrats on your first one 👍🏼
Thank you! She was very excited. Shot one a little bigger the next season. Now she is hooked!
@@SplitBrowProductions that’s what it’s all about 👍🏼
Great hunts wow you have alot of blackies there .I've use a 22m for yrs out to 100 yrs. Taken coyote .great Turkey rifle out to 100 .coon fox Everything with my mag
Thank you!
