My friend introduced me to Santana in the early 70's while playing in a band as High School seniors. I have been a fan ever since, love his music, play some of his instrumentals on the guitar at home, and there is something he has that I have not felt listening to any other artist. His music is alive and has soul as opposed to flashy and more technically sound playing that lasts for a few minutes.

I swear he's been playing the same song for 60 years. Regardless of what song he's playing, they all sound like the same song. To be fair, there's only so many ways you can play a minor blues scale over a Latin beat.
Back in the day. There were many nights with me n honey and our all night playlist on the turntable. Carlos, Mud Slide Slim, Tapestry. Maybe Tull or Chicago early and the others later ...but Carlos was almost always the top LP.
How he holds that band down is still a mystery. Awesome talent.
