    Did York ever meet Audie Murphy?

    • @bingeable_ca
      @bingeable_ca Месяц назад

      As far as historical records show, Sergeant Alvin York and Audie Murphy never met in person. York, a World War I hero, and Murphy, the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II, were two of the most famous soldiers in U.S. history, but there is no documented meeting between them. By the time Audie Murphy became famous after World War II, Alvin York was living a more private life, dealing with health issues and financial struggles. Although they were both celebrated war heroes, they lived in different eras and circumstances

    60 German planes,October 1918? Were they going somewhere?

    • @bingeable_ca
      @bingeable_ca Месяц назад

      On October 27, 1918, just fifteen days before the war ended, Barker took off from a French airfield bound for England. Over the Mormal Forest, he downed a German reconnaissance plane, only to find himself pursued by a squadron of German fighters. While ground reports suggested there were 60 enemy aircraft, it appears that 15 broke off from the main group to engage him.

    • @THEFAILVERSE
      @THEFAILVERSE Месяц назад

      Audie Murphy was awarded two Silver Stars, not four. The two Silver Stars were for gallantry in action during World War II, which is well-documented. Also, Murphy did not receive the Medal for Merit.

    • @TheFilmverseYT
      @TheFilmverseYT Месяц назад

      @ratsalad79,Just to clarify, Audie Murphy actually received two Silver Stars, not four, and he wasn’t awarded the Medal for Merit. Murphy’s incredible list of honors includes the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, and many others, but those two Silver Stars were for his bravery in combat.
