While I do wear sunglasses all the time, I got special eclipse glasses to wear over my sunglasses, since keeping my eyes safe was a must for me. I spent the whole time during the lead up to totality during the partial eclipse yelling at my younger brother for trying to take a peek at the sun without his eclipse glasses. He was annoyed with me at the time then he learned a lesson about how dangerous it is when one of his friends had temporary vision damage from the partial eclipse so he ended up thanking me.
Is looking at the sky also a risk? Or just looking directly at the sun
So many unwise kids and people going to get hurt, even permanent damage 🥴🙏🙏🙏
What if i look at my phone and have the front camera on and i just keep my head down
I have a bad feeling about that day 🫤 I don’t know why! Anybody has that feeling too?
At my home, I'll watch the TV Update News about Totality Solar Eclipse .
do we have to keep eclipse glasses on during totality?
❤
How do you know if your eclipse glasses or handheld solar viewers are truly safe? You need to know that they meet the ISO 12312-2 (sometimes written as ISO 12312-2:2015) international safety standard.
I just use my phones camera inside a VR headset 😂
Bro trying to stay in business
It is actually pretty fine through the camera, at least through mine camera, but I guess it depends on what kind of camera
Just stay in home:>
What happened to using floppy discs and VHS tapes? Oh... I am too old...
Make sure your welding mask is at least shade 12 lol, permanent eye damage can actually occur without you feeling it at shade 10. Keep your eyes safe yall lol
you can use welding mask or just the glass, but also some old pair of DVDs stacked, or you can watch through the shadows on the ground. if there is a small hole(pinhole camera) it will cast the shape of the sun
Most cameras nowadays have an electronic viewfinder, so in those cases technically yes you can look through the camera as long as you have the proper lense filter for the camera and don't kill your sensor.
yeap basically just dont use a DSLR
If you don't have glasses you can use a collander. Put the collander over something flat and look at the light cast through the holes. DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN. You are watching the shadows that the collander is casting, not looking through it. Anyway, the little light holes will slowly eclipse and you will see it! Never have to look up.
No you can absolutely look through a camera. With that logic you couldn’t watch it on RUclips without glasses either. 😂
Why cant you use a camera? Assuming youre seeing it through a screen
It damages the camera.
Okay but I wore three sunglasses one time and looked straight at the Sun I didn't hurt my eyes at all
Sure, but it was probably still damaging your eyes, without you knowing
eclipses are more damaging than regular sunlight
@@ewdaddy7030 yeah I was probably a bad idea but tell that to a stupid teenager
@@ronrogers1729 yeah, it's ok. I was one of those people who actually had solar glasses but took it off for a second because I wanted to see what it looked like without them lmao in 2014
@@ewdaddy7030 the solar eclipse was so darn cool I want to travel and see some more of them in different places around the world
Ive always just used one of my welding helmets
Or use a pinhole camera to project it. That's what our family always does
i don't look at the sun. i take in the weird light and enjoy the crazy shadows cast from objects.
Missing the high five got me 💀
what if its a digital camera with a screen bruh
It damages the camera.
@@amberblyledge7859 buddy, use a 15 or 20 stop ND fliter and youre good. you dont know what youre talking about
🫠
Or a welding helmet rated 12+
To know if your eclipse glasses are approved look for the ISO rating of 12312. If the glasses don't have it anywhere, don't wear them.
also, anyone can print a fake logo. Make sure you trust the seller.
@@teslainvestah5003 Good point there! I didn't mention this but also check to see if they are a verified manufacturer.
Well actually you can use a mirrorless camera and close down the aperture to see the fun through your cameras digital viewfinder
Or just poke a hole in a piece of paper, if light shines through, don’t look, if it don’t, look
When we had an eclipse in Germany my school handed out pieces of a rescue blanket. If you fold it so you have three layers it works really well.
Why do y’all need rescue blankets?
@@TruestOAN409 well, first of all you never know. My school is in the middle of germany and it can get pretty cold in the winter. Second : for training purposes of our student first aid team and third : most of the material is training material which is from expired, donated home and car medi-kits and all of them have a rescue blankets.
Bucket of water or maybe a mirror
I just use my welding mask lol
Same man, love to all metal melters
i was just about to say that
@@tomrengert1221 lol
You can also use welding full face mask
I have the same question
Unoriginal
@@OreoGamezYT ???
@applesucks sorry, not tryna be mean. Just try being more original
@@OreoGamezYT How be more original? Theres not much else you can use to view the eclipse, i did the same thing last lunar eclipse.

How will we be able to differentiate between authentic solar glasses and fraudulent ones?
Approved solar eclipse glasses have the ISO 12312-2 designation on them.

I liked "you've not been contained by dogma". Doctors have limitations (and of course, also make mistakes). As patients we need to keep reminding ourselves of this, especially since we've more time to read studies than they likely do.
