    I agree with the people who say Eddie’s performance is excellent. This is a song which embodies a great deal of emotion. Only his performance came close to portraying that emotion. I also agree with people who say that it would not have been an excellent stage performance. We would not have been able to see everything that he was doing on the stage. For the stage performances, Michael Ball was my favourite. However, I don’t think there’s a correct answer, just whichever performance speaks to each of us separately.

    Michael Ball had the perfect balance of conveying the emotion and hitting the notes. Some nice acting from Redmayne though.

    I'm a bit biased. Hadley is my favorite person. I think you can hear the heartbreak and guilt. I also love Eddie's rendition for the same reasons. I didn't like the casting decision for Nick Jonas. Not because he isn't good, just because I didn't think it was fair to put him with people that have so much more experience than him. None the less, Nick's performance of empty chairs at empty tables makes me cry every time.

    You seems to like Broadway but you don't know some things about music, for example the basic, the difference between tone and ovtave. For example, everyone there is on the same tone but not in the same octave, no one was out of the right tone. And people don't have the same voice. Also you should know more about Broadway too, because people that you accuse that don't know how to be in Broadway was there since a child. @ShaileneWilcox1415

    Is it just me or is Michael ball the best Marius hands down ever…. So much gravitas in his voice. Depth, the rich tone.. the others sound like they’re singing from their throats, aside from Eddie who gives a very unique performance. Who knew Eddie could sing so well..

    Eddie Redmayne is my favorite, though Scott Garnham elicits similar emotions for me. They both manage to elicit more feelings, from me. Most of the others are superior singers, but they don't touch me the same.

    Michael Ball hands down. Hadley Fraser is very very good as well. As is most other Marius. For the records, much as I like Redmayne as an actor, he just isn't Marius. At all. Casting him for that role was a mistake, almost as big a mistake as casting Nick Jonas as Marius. Ironically enough, in both occasions, the producers had Hadley Fraser in their hands, and decided, for some god-forsaken reasons, to relegate him to secondary roles.

  • @sarahgould5435
    @sarahgould5435 2 года назад

    Eddie Redmayne, ftw. All of the others failed to convey appropriate grief, messed up the timing, or both. Mostly both. I would have preferred a little stronger voiced "getting caught up in the memory" as he could "hear them now, the very words that they had sung," but the emotion was appropriate and the timing was perfect and the only singer who managed the stronger-voiced grief without distracting gasps also rushed the timing. Everyone else pretty much tried to express the emotion by hanging onto every note until it dragged the timing way back. Not terribly surprising, I guess, as sorrow tends to cause a drop in energy and lack of energy in a singer's world tends to lead to inadvertently slowing tempo and going flat.

    There’s a big difference between Empty Chairs at Empty Tables on stage, and what Tom Hooper wanted, and I think Redmayne delivered well…
