Well if your expecting compensation you won’t get it, that’s what happens when you volunteer. Your not covered under the cancer presumption bill. Oh well that’s what happens when you work for free🤷🏻‍♂️

The side effect of the passing of this bill would be a DECREASE in availability Advanced Life Support in rural communities. The commercial ambulance services that are relied upon by the small fire-based corps to provide Advanced Life Support(ALS) in the form of a Paramedic Intercept would be in jeopardy. The bill would also eliminate funding/reimbursement for Paramedic Intercept services, ultimately resulting in much longer response times (or no response at all) for this critical service. As stated, minutes count - especially where it comes to stroke/trauma/cardiac events, etc - the calls that most benefit from ALS level care which the vast majority of fire based EMS cannot provide.

If you want to bill for services, follow the existing laws already on the books, create a non-profit ambulance service entity. We do not need new legislation for something that already is possible. You might also consider the cost of administration and compliance to bill for services rendered and reconsider the concept of making a small adjustment to the tax base (pennies on the thousand) to fund the misappropriation strategies in play. Sorry, I just cannot comprehend how the taxpayers approve the abuse of public funds by fire based 'volunteer' ambulance services as illustrated on this video.

This makes zero sense and is appealing to an uneducated public with respect to ambulance services. If ANY publicly funded ambulance service is spending $250K every 18 months to 2 years to replace perfectly good vehicles, there should be an outcry from those residents. This is a prime example of misappropriation of municipal money and abuse of fiscal budgeting system. It costs approximately $100K for a very functional ambulance, and they should last 5-7 years. Perhaps you could apply the $650K you would save with the most basic business mindedness to cover your budgetary shortfall!

NYS residents can NOT afford to let his bill fail. If the volunteer services fail it will cost everyone more money. Services will be stretched thinner your protection compromised. This bill is just allowing the VFDs to bill for costs incurred on EMS calls.

Sadly Tony lost his fight 3/23/18 and Wayne lost his 5/22/19 ( just a few days before his little girl was born).
