I heard it could be the hormones they put the live stock we use for food. Maybe it's changed or more research has been done. Ie, if this is correct, if your grandmother's farm used hormones in their stock feed, your argument needs to be reformed. But these are a lot of if's. Basically, youre getting riled up on a hot take that you only have anecdotal evidence of. There are things in this to get upset about, but stay calm and research the science behind periods. Btw, I got mine right before starting 6th grade and I've always been super young for my grade. It could just be our Better / balanced diet as compared to developing countries. Which would be another explanation for your grandmother's situation.

I started when I was 9. I have been overweight most of my life so doctors would just say it's that. I have now been diagnosed with pcos but I can't say if that is why I started so early.

It's pretty common. Eight and nine are the lower end, but the majority of my grade had already started before the end of fifth grade (about 10-11). It was a small school, but out of the 50 ish girls 40+ had started. This could be a little off since I got this info when the health teacher in middle school asked us to put our hands down when she called out the age we were when we got them. I put my hand down when there weren't many people left because I felt weird, even though I didn't know what a period was (my mom was too embarrassed to tell me) and it wasn't till my second one that my friends told me. I stole pads from my mom for years until my dad started buying them for me around age 13. My mother never bought me feminine hygiene products or explained what was going on and would accuse me of being lazy when I said my stomach hurt. I had endometriosis for 11 years, and an 8 year old cyst (according to the Dr) on my left ovary when I secretly started going to the doctor at 22. My dad was the one that took me to my first surgery, and was there for my last surgery where they had to take my uterus at 23. My mother told me I was irresponsible for never telling her something was wrong.

I try to bring plenty of toys whenever we take our daughter to the park, just in case there are any kids without them. That said, I really don't like bullies...so I will absolutely fight a battle for my childs toys. So, if the kid asks nicely, absolutely I have toys. Come play, even take some home with you. If the kid makes demands, no more mister nice guy. It may not be the best way, but it may be the only way I can think of.
