This set is from Kingston Techno and the closing of a revered community space, BigCat. I dropped big tunes from heavy hitters, cranked the gear full throttle, and imbued the Kingston folk with a concentrated dose of proper Techno. A question: how do you have tr8s configured? Do you use it on USB/1? Do you create the routing in ableton + link to synchronize?
I’m currently using a Blokas MIDI Hub and it transmits signals in/out Ableton and Traktor. The TR-8S can be triggered manually with the on-board start/stop, but I also use a Roland FC-300 MIDI foot switch to trigger with and re-sync the backbeat in Ableton.
I can definitely hear some Daniel furnace in there. The divide!

Great track selection, great mix, great tools. You should be playing at festivals fr. I do have a question regarding your track selection process, if you don't mind. Do you listen/know each track by heart or what is your process when selecting tracks for a mix? Many thanks and looking forward to more of your excellent work.
@@1ceb0xcfbl Thanks for watching! I appreciate your feedback and question. As for my track selection process, I pick grooves that work well with the way I mix and use tracks that have elements which stack well on top of each other. In a given month, I sift through hundreds of songs on the first pass, then filter it down on my “selects” to 30-40 for a straight mix or 15-20 for a live hybrid set. In terms of playing out tracks, I don’t really have a set process. I throw my selects into a bin, power up the gear, load up the first track, then load up the next, and creatively find my way out of the maze I created until my set is done.

Your last line is something I also do when I mix, but I do not sift through songs to do a 1st pass before the mix. so I think if I follow that (which was something i was also thinking I need to do but wasn't sure if this will fix my issue), I will fix this "roadblock".
@@1ceb0xcfbl It’s definitely a sound approach to curating especially when there are so many tracks being released in a month. There’s also a huge difference between previewing a track before purchase and actually playing it out live. Good luck on refining your process!

Xone 96 or model1? Price difference is huge but what do you thibk?
@@jovantrendmaker4722 They are actually the same price now, at least in the U.S. I purchased my unit when it was still obscenely priced, then the Pioneer V10 was released and I didn’t feel so bad about the price. I think it’s current price is very much worth it considering the type of machine you are investing on. If you’re considering a Model 1 over the X:96, remember, you’ll need a proper audio interface for the M1, one which can accommodate the amount of I/O the mixer has and that will add to your total cost.
Why its cheat code because of filters?
@@jovantrendmaker4722 It all depends on the individual use case. In the right hands, the M1/1.4 is a versatile instrument more so than a standard DJ mixer/controller can ever be. The filters and EQ system is more nuanced and tighter, and with a little practice, it can shape and sculpt mixes that is unique to your style and genre. Is it practical? Hell no, but if you’re a DJ looking to develop their own creative language through mixing and original productions, this mixer can be an integral part to that process both in the club or in the studio.

Can you explain the setup? I know each individual thing is but I have no idea what they’re doing in this setup given you have a 4 deck mixer but have enough to control 8?
The X1 MK3’s control Traktor decks A-B and are routed to CH 1-4 on the Xone 96. The Xone K2’s control FX from Ableton and are routed to the USB returns on the Xone 96. The RMX-1000 is connected via the master insert on the Xone 96.

@@LucasAfferi Thanks for watching! The genre that you are looking for, if it is under Beatport, they would be categorized as Raw/Hypnotic or Peak Time/Driving. The tracks use for this mix are selections curated from those genres. I have added ID’s for each track in the description to make helpful for others to find.
