Ugh seed ticks only thing worse are chiggers. Ticks, chiggers, and greenheads are all really bad in south jersey pine barrens . The first time i encountered seed ticks i thought i was tripping. I just got back to the truck after scouting i remember doing a quick tick check before hopping in cause I had brushed 2 off while out there. This was before i knew how bad the tick problem actually was in this area. I ended up knocking 2 more off me and thought to myself that it wasnt to bad for the time of year and how long i was in there. Well while i was driving i looked down at my pants "grey wrangler ripstop" something didnt look right so wen i looked closer thats when i finally saw them. I am not exaggerating when im telling you i had to have had easily 100,000 or more seedling ticks on me not only covrering but also going through the tiny holes in my ripstops. Now closely inspecting they were all over my arm my chest my neck i was covered. They literral nest right at the base of a hair follicle almost undetectable. After that i started treating my clothes with sawyers which helped immensely. Also coming to find it was almost a guarantee if you brushed against a small patch of broomsedge from mid june to early sept you were picking up hitchhikers. My first experience with chiggers was similar where i ended up having chigger bites all over my entire body and it wasnt until after about almost 2 weeks with new bites still showing up an old time piney told me to make sure i vacuum my truck out if there was any sand on the floor which there was. GOODTIMES!! Eventually i just started to drastically reduce my time in the woods especially end of july- august that is when its the absolute worsr

its all cool until you have a spike kick out, you have all that space in your linemans rope, your face hits the tree and you slide all the way down it. no thanks. ill stick to my rope climbing methods where im always attached to the tree with minimal to no slack and enough rope to rappel all the way to the base.

Yeah go into public hunting or fedral grounds damaging a tree with spurs. Even on public land, why?? Just use a climber or strap ladders

Spurs are not legal in Michigan. I’m a big supporter of deregulation but spurs definitely will kill trees in my experience.
