    Qt is broken in every way that matters ... avoid like the plague.

      Why?

    • @RetroHobbyMag
      @RetroHobbyMag 8 дней назад

      @georgi_my High DPI has been around for a very long time at this point, and Widgets still doesn't support it consistently. Qt widgets has been abandoned in favour of QML, and QML isn't mature enough to support complex applications. Honestly, if Mac and Windows are your targets, it's far less painful to learn C# and Swift.

      If you look at Qt apps like Kdenlive (video editor) and Dolphin (Wii emulator) and ZRYTHM (Digital Audio Workstation) they look great on my Mac and have no issues with High DPI at all. Open source linux apps have lots of success in Qt. I see what you mean about QML, its very much like SwiftUI for a Mac App same concept, but I think that for traditional desktop apps normal traditional widgets are fine. Even SwiftUI has bugs/issues and QML I think its for like automotive industry displays on cars, etc, whereas widgets work great for desktop which is my interest. Not really interested in QML, maybe in a few years they will figure it out. Swift is painful because of SwiftUI, and c++ is more straightforward and Xcode can be a mess. Swift was garbage Swift 1, 2, 3, 4, it wasn't until Swift 5 that it was really mature. SwiftUI has been a hot mess and I can't stand working with it.

    I'll be honest, this was a lot! Not your tutorial but the entire process. I am brand new to cybersec, python, and VM's. & at 53, I'm making a career change and this tutorial has given me the confidence to feel like I at least know a little bit! lol I installed Virtual Box after tinkering around on HTB. I found a 1TB stick, and put the Ubuntu .iso on there but it was write-protected so I had to use Rufus to format the drive, then install this, add the .iso image without accidentally overwriting my PC, etc,,etc. and now here I am! I have a freaking VM at home and can now learn how to pen test and hack (ethically of course!) Thank you so much OP! Next up, I'm installing Kali Linux so I can have a testing environment!
