Canim Falls road trip

Hello everyone. In this little 3 day trip, Freya the Adventure Pup and I take the truck that was recently set up for a camper, and put it through a shake down trip to Canim Lake to visit friends. We also visited Canim Falls before moving on to spend a night at Latremouille Lake before pointing south toward home with and stop at Chasm. Admittedly a couple of the parks I had hoped to see where cl...

Freya the Adventure Pup and I headed off to Whistler to check off a couple hikes on the “to do” list. Specifically Rainbow Falls, the Whistler Train Wreak and the Cheakamus River Falls. And, if you’re in Whistler you need to take a stroll through the village before heading home.

I really wanted to get Freya out snowshoeing before the snow on the local hills melted. So when a hole in my schedule opened up i jumped at the chance to take her up to Mt Seymour and head up to Brockton Point. She had so much fun out there it was a great day on the trails.

2024 Adventure #1. Mount Woodside with Freya the Adventure Pup! And the trusty Little Green YJ
1000 miles in a day...on a KLR. LOL.
Congratulations! I did my 1600km in Poland last year. I agree with everything you've said in the video!
Strong work! I made 860 miles in Texas on my gen 2 KLR and got stomped on by sideways rain and high winds. Lots of lightning, looked cool on the GoPro but stopped me right there. Another near thousand mile trip was cut short in Casper Wyoming due to the crosswinds.
Just found your channel. Subscribed!
Nope 😂😂😂 (BEAUTY waterfalls!!! 🤩)
I've never heard of the "IronButt" ride.... is this an organization of sorts, I heard you say you had to submit your info to get the accommodation. That's very interesting. Keep the rubber side down, peace
@@user-dv7hb2sc9m yes it’s the IronButt Association. Look’em up.
Yes Sir, learning new stuff each day & I will look it up shortly. I just watched some much younger guys do this trip on much newer/larger GoldWing type bikes..... I left a comment saying that at his age/bike that he could do a, " 1,500 " mile pull being as it's only going 60MPH thruout the trip. Hey, ty for posting up. peace
I did an iron Butt run from Dallas Texas to California twice back in the early-mid 80's. I hadn't even heard of an iron butt run at that time, first time on a Suzuki 750 & the 2nd on a Harley super glide ( I was in my early -mid 20's ) I haven't road a bike in 40 years until I got my gen 3 KLR last year...... I don't know if my old butt could handle that on my KLR , However this video is inspiring to say the least. I might try Dallas to Mt. Rushmore to see how I do , I'd have to go pre/post Sturgis as I wouldn't want all of the Harley riders to feel inferior to the KLR & someone riding their bike as opposed to trailering it to the destination 😬
I wouldn't do that ride on a Goldwing much less a KLR. 10hrs is my limit. 😊
Approx 750 miles, 2-up, on a GPZ550, in 13 hours
👍👍👍
Good job and great comments! 742 miles in a day is my max, but I do want to try for 1k. Could never have got so far without cruise control.
Congratulations! My butt couldn't take it! 😂
Enjoyed this 2 part adventure. Those falls at the beginning…..Wowzas! Just how cold was the river? This kinda makes me want to buy a jeep now 😜👍🏻
@@Crittermoto THX Critter! The river didn’t feel cold. But I was a little concerned and fixated on getting unstuck I suspect there was a good load of adrenaline running just then.
Well done man... uncle johnny is proud of you! 🫡
@@johnnyg2969 awww thx Unky John!
Well done !!!!!!
I did 1,065 (22hrs.) on my 2015 MV Agusta 800 Dragster RR and got my certificate...stock seat no windshield...

It's 100% a mental challenge.
Congratulations. I did the IronButt Ultimate Coast to Coast from Key West, Fl to Prudhoe Bay, AK years ago on a GEN 1 KLR 650. Great bike, and unstoppable. I missed that bike so much I picked up a Brand New Gen 3 KLR 650 ABS this past Saturday. Only 100 mi so far, but the KLR has only gotten better, now with Fuel Injection and ABS.
Wow!
I applaud you! I'm currently looking at doing a SS1000 after an ill timed conversation with a deer stopped my preparations last time I was training for an attempt
Beautiful stuff Bro. Thanks for sharing.
My ironbutt ride was from Des Moines, Iowa to Dallas Tx. On a 1980 Kawasaki 440 LTD with the step set. Made to just south of Oklahoma City before stopping for the night that was back in 1981 if I remember correctly right.
Fantastic! What an achievement. Great video. Subscribed.
Well done. Great video - thanks for posting it
Kudos to you! I hadn't quite managed 1k miles in one go on the klr despite getting really close (probably 950ish miles at near 15 hours) and I remember that night being the best shower and sleep I had ever gotten. The only reason I stopped early was I didn't know of the challenge and I only did it to move states 😅! Seriously though, amazing job with the run!
I did the Saddle sore 1000 and the Bun burner 1500 consecutively at age 50 two up, it was the wife's actual 50th b/day when we did it. We were on our round the world trip on a Beemer 1200 GSA so big up to you for doing it on the KLR. We rode from a friends place somewhere in Utah to my Bro's in Bloomington Ind., nearly didn't make it as I got a really bad case of helmet itch which was driving me mad and I considered quitting, pushed on through though and finished with just over an hour to spare if I remember.
From a ‘22 KLR owner, this is a monumental task! I put 860mi in a weekend to go look at a trailer with stock sprockets and tires, and I know how sore I was after that one. Maybe some day I’ll try to get certified but I’m going 16/42 and ditching the knobbies first!
Happy Birthday🎉 Nice run!
In full protest 😂
I did my saddle sore 1000 when I was 50. Los Angeles to the Grand Canyon and back. Hit a bad blizzard in Prescott and had to reroute. Still got it done 1150 something miles on a 2001 GSXR 1000. Now at 68 I’m content with 300 miles days on my klr in the Appalachian Mountains.
On a Gixxer, ouch!
Not on the stock KLR seat... That thing sucks.. Like the KLR generally does.. Suck..
Congrats on your accomplishment! My wife and I are in our 60s, and we completed and got certified on our first Iron Butt ride (a SS1000 and BB1500 combo) a year ago, so we can attest to the difficulty. It definitely takes planning.
Gel bicycle shorts from performance bikes rocks. And ride your bicycle at least 50 or 60 miles a week to toughen up your butt.
O man. Sounds amazing. While watching your video.. I begun my mapping route. Safe travels
Congrats on an awesome achievement. It is something that will stick with you forever.
Well, done, good and faithful KLR Rider! that’s kicking some butt. I especially like the quote. BECAUSE IT’S THERE… it’s all about the Ride, and the mindset. Have owned Two KLR 650’s both with well over 70, 000 miles on the clocks… The bikes are truly good and Faithful machines. I watched your video twice, truly enjoyed the mannerisms, and the sincerity of the ride. I’ve subscribed to your channel and now it’s time to get caught up. peace to you this day. Be safe out there, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Congratulations awesome effort buddy. I have done 4 myself, and those that know, realise how much grit and determination this takes. Welcome to the IronButt Club ❤
This is truly impressive! Was never able to ride more than 800km on my KLR per day.
I'm in Vic. Be happy to do the van isle trip...i have a 2024 klr650...
Congrats. I have done one of my many saddle sore 1000s on a 92 klr 650, with all the mods on it plus the bigger fuel tank. next, you should try the but burner gold.
Good for you, well done !!!
I've done a few iron butt's, around 15-16 hrs
My longest ride on Gen3 is from Chicago to Knoxville TN. If I do iron butt, won’t be in July when it’s HOT!
I am not a 360 fan at all, but glad you use it as a tool, not your main point of the video
I think I need to get you in to pipe smoking! Seem well thought out and enjoy life. Why not with a pipe!?
Had to give you a sub. In 3 video and think you got something! But what do I know.
That is the only part of the west I would love on two wheels. Well, maybe not the only part, but real 2 wheel off road and tracks. Nice
I am a east coaster, but my brother lived in Seattle for a decade and spent three trips out there and skied at whistler! Beautiful area. I just could not deal with the liberal life. Thanks for the journey.
Not sure your age, but I was truly introduced to two wheels from my first father inlaw. I never looked back at 4 wheels. Still own my truck I bought prior to 2 wheels. I am 99 percent 2 wheels since 2022. I am 50 and enjoy listening to your experience. Great editing and voice over.
He mentioned 50 in the beginning and reason for the trip.
I'm thinking about doing the exact same ride - on a CRF300L. Perhaps the wrong bike, but man what an adventure LOL. I bet I'll have numb hands and feet for a week.
I have a 300l Rally and I’m thinking about next year. But that’s only because the Rally has an over driven 6th gear.
@dirty_destinations_ does the rally have different internal gearing than the plain 300L? Both 6 speeds, but are the final drive figures different, notwithstanding sprockets?
@@mollygrubber yes the Rally’s gear ratios are different. 6th is over driven
