The recent box set of Xenakis' electroacoustic works has a much better version of this, sound quality-wise. Less hiss, less distortion, fuller tonal range, wider stereo field.

As an electronic music fan for 40+ years, I can say this piece, Persepolis, is one of the greatest pieces of all time. Exciting through and through; thrilling.

Those last 5 minutes… wow. It sounds like a crowd cheering. Like the Greeks celebrating their conquest of Persepolis. A celebration of destruction. Then the low, thundering noise comes in, creating a sense of terror beyond anything that any traditional harmony could express. The cheering sounds become more panicked, and the noises become more mechanical, as the conquest of Persepolis is now morphing into the conquest of the natural world. The industrialization of Earth, destroying everything just as the Greeks destroyed Persepolis. And then it ends. Leaving a sudden emptiness after almost an hour of hellish noise. Truly a phenomenal composition

First cut (where I am so far) reminds me, in some way, as a possible inspiration for the first part of the cut Pink Floyd "Saucerfull of Secrets" - which is one of my favorite cuts of theirs. In other words, I'm enjoying this rather demanding form of ART. First time I've ever heard this, too. Definitely awakens (or should I say RE-awakens, as I haven't "used" it much during the pandemic) my WILD STREAK, which has developed especially in the past 20 years (I'm 74).

Wonderful sounds and intricate noises, beyond any universe, which makes them sink and boil at the same time in the Abyss... the original Chaos!

I have heard until 38minute.. So on only terrifying sounds... Not a single melody.. This is not music. I cannot understand what the ex king of Persia or his advisors liked about this crap. He should prefer vangelis papathanasiou. Unbelievable crap. These sounds match perfectly for the prisoners of guantanamo as a torture. This kind of sounds produce psychological problems. Music was given by Apollo to heal the soul not to damage it... Mr xenakis you're a big disappointment. Xenakis(from the word"xenos"-ξένος)means the stranger and your"music"is totally strange for human beings. I suppose you wrote this"music"(an insult for the music)for aliens of space not for humans. Unbelievable boring crap. This curse stepped down after a while the king of Persia. I hear a lot of different types of music but I can assure you that this is not a music. You're a very big disappointment as a hellinas.
