Hokutoryu ju-jutsu - Early 80's
Välähdys Hokutoryu ju-jutsun näytöstuokiosta. Tampereella silloisen Koivistonkylän Eka marketin yläkerran judo-tatamilla. Sorry for the somewhat bad picture quality (ancient VHS recording times.) Kaikkea hywää ja leppoisaa mieltä asianomaisille Herroille toivotan! Videon lopussa itse Auvo Niiniketo. Show Timo Hirvonen (1.dan) ja Risto Väntar (1.kyu). Years go by eli niin sitä tämä aika rientää...

Hokuto ryu
Used to love the 'go-faster' stripes on the dogi. They look so 80's today though :) But I still see posers rolling up their sleeves to look cooler even today. Looking back, there was a lot more masochism in the 80's :) Raises an interesting question though... do you really need to go full force on locks and strikes in training? Does it truly train muscle memory the right way? Or is it just a sure-fire way for everybody over 40 to sustain career ending injuries?
I think that Jujutsu is a very awesome form of Martial Arts because it is so well rounded.
That's what I thought too. We used to have these kickboxing Fridays and judo Sundays etc. Judokas would wipe the floor with us, and I'm not even going to mention BJJ. Boxers and kickboxers ... man! We really didn't belong in the same ring with them. On a whole another level. It's a simple fact. The ones who specialize in only one discipline, will almost always become better at it than the one who tries to train them all, but inevitably with less frequency. Nevertheless, it's a great traditional martial art. It introduces to a variety of things you can do with your two hands and two feet. Good for the body, turns your bones to steel. It's a young man's sport, though.
@@attiylanen Interesting point.
@@burntrim The more work you put on one thing, the better you get. It's a simple fact.
Do I see hanshi Väntär and soke himself (at the end) in this video?
What was up with the last strike? lol Was that some kind of a castration strike?
