I cried when I got my EGA on the reaper man. Never felt pride like that.

The greatest honor is bestowed upon the soldiers and sailors of this country. I am proud to witness the time in our lives where the few, the proud, and the honorable have chosen to stand together to hold this nation together. You men are amazing. I got the chills. My dad was (was because he died of cancer from agent orange) He served as a Marine from 1969 to 1972. I will be honest… it was hard growing up. But I will say this!! There is NOT one person more proud of there Marine Daddy than his daughter. I have faced many struggles and continue to with many health problems. I witnessed horrible things from his ptsd but I also saw the raw sorrow and pain. Seeing my dad cry made my tummy hurt as a little girl on up. My mom never showed soft emotion. She is a narcissistic being. The one who showed me the absolute strong never ever take anyone’s shit. I have gotten in trouble a little because if anyone hurts the people I love including their bosses I have made phone calls and let them know treating my family like shit doesn’t fly. With all my heart it’s not like some who try to act like a hard ass and 100% it’s show. A friend told me once.,she said you have always been the person to stand up for people. I realize that I too have a very rough side.,when I believe in something there is pure conviction and people say nobody wins arguing with me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing in everything in life. Nobody is perfect. The same man that fought in that war showed a side that was fragile. Empathetic. He would write poetry that would be you cry. He was also an artist. He taught my brother and I so much. Things didn’t end well between my dad and I when he passed and it hurt me and filled me with guilt. He passed a little short of a month before my 30th birthday. I have healed a lot. I wish I could sit down with a vet and have a conversation or just meet people that are serving and get a big hug! I had to walk away from my mom. I have been blessed with the most loving loyal caring and passionate human. I know God and my dad had a big hand in it. Thank you to ALL Who have and are serving! You guys are my heroes! When I’m down but see anything about you guys I get filled with strength to keep going! I need a 2nd cervical spine surgery. I have several spine issues the worst in my neck. I will have my tatiniun taken out and they will refuse but this time instead of 3 it will be 7 or more! I hope whoever reads this will say a little prayer for me! Gods speed!

I’m sad I never got to experience an EGA ceremony. They just gave them to us without much fanfare. I guess earning the title and the right to call ourselves Marines was more than enough.
