Thanks man! Yea you'll need to adjust a little on the fly when shooting. Depending on your location, it'll also trigger if you're in bulb mode for long exposures with lightning.

Hey there! So I show with the pluto as well and I loved it! It has its place for sure but for the simplicity of what I was doing (lots of run and gun shooting) the SF worked perfectly for me. I guess its a matter of preference.

Thank you so much! This was my first "real" guitar I got when I was a kid. It's a Michael Kelly Patriot Custom. I think its either Trans Amber or just Amber. I threw some Bareknuckle Silo's in the bridge and neck as well it sounds and plays like a dream!
Anyone use this with a Canon R6 24-105 combo ? Ive tried capturing daylight lighting and its not capturing anything at all. Ive varied shutter speeds and apertures but with no success. The triggers fires when the lighting strike occurs so I think its working..any ideas welcome..
So what I have noticed, It is harder during daylight to capture lightning due to the strength of the infrared signal. Day time bolts are a struggle but you're better off shooting night time.
@@PyrStudios thanks for the reply. Interestingly enough the camera is triggered by the lightning flash but not able to capture it. I wasn’t aware of the difference in strength of the infra red , that’s good to know .
@@davidelliott6610 Yea that will happen but its is just not fast enough to register unfortunately, maybe try darkening your shot as much as you can to see if that bolt shows up? Daytime bolts really tend to lose their definition due to the external light sources around them. Hope this helps! :D
@@PyrStudios thanks again for the tips. I did try to under and overexpose but with the same results . This is definitely a learning cure and an enjoyable one! I will try a Bulb exposure with an ND filter next to see how that goes.
@@davidelliott6610 Oh yea and ND filter can help too I had some luck with an ND10 when I would shoot day time. It is a fun experience for sure!

Is it better then a miops trigger
They are both great, I just prefer the grab and go simplicity that comes with the Strike Finder to be honest. I actually own both and a Pluto trigger as well lol I have many needs
@@PyrStudios I don't find the miops great by a long shot. The hit rate is hit or miss allot of times
@@tomd4260 I noticed that too that's why I lean more towards the strike finder, plus their customer service is amazing always easy to get in touch with questions. All around my favorite to be honest, worth every penny :D

All photo examples in this video are nice, but either shot at night or low light. No big problem to catch those strikes without a trigger, for example in bulb mode. Daylight is the challenge and now I doubt that this is the right thing for it.
Agreed, bulb mode would work just fine but you would have to manually hold open your shutter using tons of shutter clicks eventually wearing that component down. This only fires when lightning is happening and it shoots for you, saving shutter clicks and all that jazz. Thanks for the comment though bud!!
Nice review. Do you know if it will fire the camera in burst mode? My A6600 does 11fps so it would be nice to get some extra exposures around each trigger during the day when the shutter can't be open very long without ND.
Oh yea it should would out just fine in burst mode, I normally don't shoot that way when storm chasing but I don't see why it wouldn't work :)
Have you tried other lightning triggers before? If so, what made you prefer this one?
Hey there, WOW sorry for that late response! Well I have used a few different triggers, I chose it due to how easy it is to set up. Especially when in panic mode when storms start going off, I used the Pluto trigger and Miops as well they are both great, but this one suits me best!
Quick question. I have upgraded from Strike Finder to Strike Finder 2 and the trigger wont trigger during the day. I am shooting in Arizona so the storms are big with plenty of strikes. Now the SF 2 works great at night but not during the day. Have you found this same issue?
I'm about a year into this thing, and I have found pretty much it prefers low light. It will work in the daylight, if you are only a mile or two from the bolts. Even at night if the lightning is more that 6 miles or so away... she don't flick the trigger.

Have been using the Strike Finder 2 for a few weeks. It works quite well. Buy with confidence. I bought from the company in Texas. The customer service is the greatest!

A few days ago I bought a cheap Vivitar lightning trigger. Did some experimenting with it during a thunderstorm. The trigger would set the camera off during a lightning strike. But the camera would miss capturing the image. The street lights would show up in the picture. But the camera seemed to be too slow. Could it be that the lightning strikes were just too fast?

Is anyone getting MTP usb errors??!?!?!? My computer doesn't detect my 60d camera....
Super, but when I connect my 60d it says: No Camera Detected. What I can do to fix if? Thanks
One thing that wasn't mentioned is that when you take a portrait instead of landscape shot, Lightroom does not have the capabilities to auto rotate it. You have to turn your auto rotate in your camera "on" when you take a portrait shot.
Okay, to get on free-standing monitor from laptop, just attach it to laptop. That was easy. Also, I too, got the 'busy' message- I needed to click 'turn on tether capture' again from file menu and then it resumed working with camera settings onscreen.
Oh, and love the shift+ tab. My settings displayed accurately onscreen for my 60d and LR3

hit Shift+Tab to remove all the extra panels. then "F" till at your desired full screen then l to put lights out on the background except your image.
What do you mean by show the image full screen? I don't believe you can make the image you are editing full screen.
i saw a photographer use lightroom and a tethered canon and showed the the image full screen i cant seem to fins how to do that\
Well shit..that is really weird haha to be honest I have no clue it works for me, maybe try some of the Adobe Lightroom 4 FAQ forums and see if there is any talk of that issue there? That really is odd though.
I have the 60D...and Lightroom 4....and it still shows no aperture or shutter speed and says busy. What can I try??? I have the newest version..so thats not the problem.
@MrSmildiger Hahah wireless hmm..I wish I was more tech savvy to invent such a thing haha. Well I would ACTUALLY recommend you get Lightroom 4, Adobe just released the consumer product. I have it and I love it! The tethered capture works just fine with my Canon 60D,maybe give the trial a shot and see if you wish to buy it? =]
Thanks for the reply, There was a "lost" connection. So I closed lightroom and restarted the computer. everything is just fine right now. These USB plugs are very unstable for a proper solid tight connection.. it's ridiculous, I mean I shoot, sometimes on very expensive digital backs and they have that same problem. with a firewire cable. maybe go wire less, but I don't know of any such system Thanks again !
@MrSmildiger It is because you have not updated to the most up-to-date version of Lightroom. I believe it is Lightroom 3.6 but if I were you I would just get the new Lightroom 4 beta that Adobe has up on their site now. I also have a video on the new beta. I hope this helps, let me know? :]
I have that same problem, lightroom recognizes say's (60D) it's busy. no aperture or shutter speed info, cant remote shutter release . funny enough when I just had lightroom installed it did work,now for some reason it doesn,t. Anyone with an Idea why?
