      Yes, you should try to get that earlier versus later. The longer you wait, the more you will forget and the more busy life gets after graduating, the harder it will be to study. The benefit is that it is a big step towards getting your license and will show that you know the fundamentals needed to eventually become an engineer.

I really like how modern and professional your videos are and they're very enjoyable to watch. Could you please make a video/videos on all the stages involved in transport/traffic engineering (going into each step in depth would be handy, furthermore how the team works together (and what type of people are involved) to finish a project and show them to clients (- I understand this varies by company, but even something kind of general would be good)

    can we attain any of these without a degree?

    • @ByronTang
      @ByronTang 6 месяцев назад

      Yes, they can be attained without a degree. For example, in California, it is possible to get an EIT and PE without a degree/college experience. States can be different with requirements so it is good to check with the state that you are interested in. PTOE and RSP can also be attained without a degree. When you don't have a degree you most likely will need more years of engineering-related experience.

    Hi Byron, I got a bachelor's in computer science, but i realize i get very excited about transportation and city planning. Given your experience, is there any route you'd recommend for me to get into the transportation engineer industry for someone with a bachelor's in computer science? Is it feasible if I don't have internships or specific engineering coursework? Thank you

    • @ByronTang
      @ByronTang 7 месяцев назад

      Hi, from what I’ve seen, it would be very challenging to become a licensed engineer. Not trying to discourage you, but I have not seen anyone do it. The main reason is the licensing process to get an EIT and eventually a PE will be a lot. You will need to do a lot of self-studying on complex subjects you haven’t learned yet. One possibility is that you could potentially work in the industry without ever getting a license. An example is using your computer science background to develop intelligent transportation systems or work with developing software for traffic signal-type applications. There are probably other avenues that don’t require an engineering license, but what I am getting at is not everyone in the industry is a licensed engineer. If you are ok with that, then it could be more feasible.

    Um wrong… as long as the AWS are placed at the correct distance there’s no need to push back a taper because of a turn if the taper has the necessary spacing as well as the buffer space it’s all good. if you’re riding in a road with construction signs around that automatically should let you know to slow down. And in your video that center divider doesn’t have enough space to set up fabrics indicating the lane closure ahead. That’s the reason tapers and buffer zones were invited for drivers like you guys or maybe the idiot that decided to drive into the taper and almost cause a pile up .

    VDOT has more traffic signals (red lights) per non-interstate highway mile than any other state in the U.S. Additionally, when VDOT finally separates the grades, it insists on building massive, sprawling Cadillac interchanges when a Ford or Chevy would be adequate and, to add insult to injury, the shitass agency STILL clutters all supporting side roads and streets with traffic signals
