Don't buy diamonds period. Don't get swallowed up by this so-called tradition made up by super-rich and horrific diamond companies. Honestly ladies, you're literally putting a price on yourself like a prostitute. The amount you spend on a diamond has no bearing on your love for each other. Save your money and the environment and don't buy one. I say get a cheap small band that shows you're married but that's it, tungsten is great it looks perfect, never scratches and is cheap with a fraction of the footprint on the planet and society. If you still think you need something flashy that says you are an expensive prostitute to all those people who you don't like who would judge you. Then get a cubic zirconia in a 14k gold ring. NOBODY will know the difference except a jeweler and nobody is going to ask for the receipt. My wife and I spent $7k on her rings and they're collecting dust now after having kids and our priorities changed. Jewelry has no value, she just wears a simple gold band now that is easy to clean and doesn't snag on everything. She realized that the ring is a fake symbol and just becomes a burden. Constantly worried about stones falling out, getting it cleaned, polished, is it insured, are people judging her because she looks rich, are they sizing her up to charge her extra because she has expensive jewelry, or even rob you, do we want our daughters to find value in big flashy diamonds, or even worse your ring getting caught on something and it rips your finger off or mutilates it (happens every day, look it up). Also this is money that could be better spent. Down payment on a home or your retirement. $5k compounded for 40 years is almost $30k. Your diamond will be worth at best a quarter of what you paid, likely more like an 8th. Also don't look at the insured value. That is not the resale value, insured is over inflated everytime. Just don't fall into this trap. Diamonds are less than useless and create a market for blood diamonds. Require massive mining operations that pollute the air, and water and destroy habitat. Crazy amounts of energy for the whole supply chain. Sweatshops are used to cut and polish them in 3rd world countries. Much of this goes for lab grown too. Lastly people are not smart, 85% of us just do what everyone else does. So they see a bride with a flashy ring and they want one themselves. Even if it's a lab grown or cubic zirconia it still looks like a diamond. So they assume it's a real diamond and set off to buy one. Keeping the market going for blood diamonds, sweatshops and environmentally destructive operations. Don't be fooled by carbon credits or renewable energy used to make your lab grown diamond either. Even if it's legitimately certified real, that's still renewable energy that has been diverted from powering a school or hospital or a farm just to make a usless bobble that does nothing but burden you and bring harm to the planet. Good luck!

The Jewelry industry in general is the biggest scam out there...people are paying thousands for ( let's face it) - something they are probably NEVER going to sell. DeBeers marketed natural diamonds 50 years ago and they did a great job at it...add retail markup to that cost and you have people spending insane amount of $. BUT what about "resale value."???? Resale value for WHAT? The price of natural diamonds are so inflated bc of market supply and demand and lab grown being basically an infinite supply. THATS IT. The resale cost is relative to what you pay, If you try to sell your natural diamond back to a jeweler you are not going to get the full amount you paid for it regardless, the same goes for lab created stones. its all about supply and demand. One product is not superior to the next. In fact, one might argue that lab grown diamonds are actually more pure than natural diamonds lol Being made of pure carbon type IIa, the majority of natural diamonds have trace amounts of other substances such as nitrogen, type IIa diamonds found naturally are extremely rare. Point is that you can discuss the pros and cons of environmental impact all day, there's pros and cons to both sides. People need to make their own informed decisions on on what they are actually spending their money on. Lab grown diamonds are identical to mined diamonds physically, chemically, optically so on that point - buy whatever you want you're getting a diamond either way.

Nice side by side video of stones close in price. I’m surprised to see light color diamonds (M & N), but at the same time I’m curious to see if I could have identified a 2ct(ish) vvs2 colorless within your lineup. 7 steps in color will demand a significant bump to the budget, probably $2,000 per step or is that increase only for clarity steps?

Elongated shaped stones are notorious for chipping and for having a black bow-tie effect. Per this video, elongated stones are very desirable, very hard to source, and thus expensive. It will be extremely difficult to see 3 elongated stones side by side, which are the: same size (+/- .1ct.), same price (+/- $500), same ratio range (see below). Radiant = 1.20 - 1.25 Cushion = 1.26 = 1.30 Oval = 1.40 - 1.45 Pear = 1.52 - 1.58 Three general notes, for elongated stones: 1. Select an elongated stone with a thick girdle, to ward off chipping. 2. Bigger stones have bigger tables and need to be more clear. ie. vvs1 or vvs2. 3. When you look into the center of the table, you want to see facets which draw your eye downward to the cutlet. These facets appear to be a "clear cone" in the heart of the table. To check all of the boxes above, for an elongated Natural Diamond (just the stone), you're going to pay: $13,000 for a 1.5ct, $22,000 for a 1.85ct, $26,000 for a 2.0ct Solution...get yourself a 5.0ctw Lab Grown Diamond ring, from the Sam's Club display case, for under $2,999

Never never never buy an Oval Cut diamond, which is not within the “colorless “ range. Only consider D, E, or F colored Oval Diamonds. Yes the price increases by several thousand dollars, but the ends of the Oval will be white.

Modified Cushion Brilliant diamonds make up the vast majority of Cushions. Much, much fewer Cushions are the Cushion Brilliant. If you are focusing on a Cushion Square (1.00 - 1.15 ratio) buy the Cushion Brilliant. If you’re buying an elongated Cushion (1.26 - 1.30 ratio) find the hybrid version of the Modified Cushion Brilliant. Note…It is very hard to find 1.26 - 1.30 ratio hybrid diamonds, so getting to see 3 side by side will be a task, for the jeweler to source.

Size matters. There are many “ifs and but” to this video.. If it were me, I’d look a 3 - 5 side by side stones, which are the same size (+\- .1ct). Find a jeweler that will show you a few round diamonds side by side that are no smaller than .85ct and no larger than .95ct , which are $10,000 each. After that showing, you’ll completely understand that size doesn’t matter, but compromise does.

This is a fake video intended to demote lab diamonds. There was nothing of this kind at the JCK LAS VEGAS show. The promoter of this video is a diamond and jewellery merchant dealing in Natural Diamonds and jewellery and seems to be fucked up in business because of LGD's eating away his business so he decided to play this shit video.

    8.99 divided by 3.41 = 2.63 ratio and that cushion looks more like a 1.22 - 1.24 ratio. $9,080 is about $2,000 too much for a J color.
