    I saw Traffic for the first time in NYC @ the Academy on 14st. 1972 or 73. They were phenomenal! Each one a virtuoso of his instrument. Sadly, Chris was so loaded that after mumbling something to the audience he fell on stage. Winwood cleaned up the whole scene quickly with a little talking and then an amazing piano solo. Chris was so immensely gifted a musician and talented as a performer that we all over looked these things. Terribly sad day to learn of his passing. I often imagine him and Steve Marriott doing some great gigs together in the here after. Rebop passed, and recently I heard Roscoe Gee did too. Capaldi passed leaving Stevie to carry on.

      Well the resurrection of all those in the memorial tombs is maybe nearer than ever.. Now ..That is to say when Jehovah the creator of the universe after a big sort out of human affairs.. Brings back to life .. Those who have died little by little.. They are sleeping in the graves at the moment. George Benson Hank Marvin know of what I speak and so did Prince Nelson .. That is your clue

    I loved his sax playing on the original "Feelin' Alright." Seemed like an extension of Dave Mason's low-key, on-the-edge-of-defeat vocals. Steve Winwood's harmonies were excellent too.

      In the mid to late 80's when visiting a friend in what was the Royal Infirmary in Castle St, I saw Georgie in a bed nearby. He had been hit by a car and had a damaged leg. The nurse said that he could go home if he had somewhere to go where he could be looked after. So I took him home with me where we could take care of him. He was with us for 5 weeks, an amusing but trying time. He definitely was a character, sometimes difficult,and prone to get in a rage. He told many stories, I don't know hoe true that were, he definitely had a mental problem. He was a flyweight boxer in the army, which shows in his dancing. He said he had a sister in America, and that he went there once. I asked if he had flown or went by sea, he said 'One of them". He claimed he had seen his home bombed, and his wife killed. where this was, who knows. He was famous for his dancing, and fighting in the pubs. Used to get down to the Butts on cattle market days, he always carried a stick, and wandered about prodding the animals. He would 'shadow dance behind people, usually women, and would prod them in the backside, then turn around and walk away whistling as if innocent.He used to sing 'Getchy, tetchy, goldie' and tighten his lips to make a squeak.He liked going to church, mostly at the Penticostal in Lowesmoor.

    Although the voice is pure, she is too young and because of it too much concentrating on the technique and to be perfect. The true meaning is lost. I do not want to hurt her but after Robin Gibb only a very few who can... at least to try.

    • @CalUni
      @CalUni 7 лет назад

      If you are of the mind frame that a singer cannot do a song justice simply due to age, that is a real shame. I understand what you mean that she is concentrating on her technique (to be fair this is typical of any classical-crossover singer) but I have been moved very much by this young singer. Check out her cover of Heaven and her own original song Prayer to a Snowflake.

      It's true that Mary can't capture the tragic element and pain that Robin Gibb conveys so well. He has 50 years on her and his voice is one of a kind. Mary Jess has a lovely but common alto/soprano voice that is like 100 other great opera singers.
